The clang of pans, the hiss of oil, and the sharp chorus of knives striking cutting boards filled the kitchen of Éclat de Minuit. Friday night. The kind of service that either sharpened you into a diamond or ground you to dust.
“Table twelve, two scallops, one steak, one bouillabaisse. Move!” Vox’s voice thundered across the kitchen.
“Yes, chef!” came the chorus, sharp and automatic.At the fish station, Shu Yamino was already in motion, knife flashing like silver lightning. Each cut through the salmon fillet was precise, clean, almost reverent. His indigo-accented apron stayed spotless despite the chaos.
“Yamino-kun~.”
The booming voice came from the next station over. Luca Kaneshiro, sleeves rolled up, apron smeared with what looked like at least three different sauces. His pan roared with flames as he seared a cut of venison.

It was a boy with brilliant electric blue eyes that seemed to gleam throughout the smoke that filled the air. His shock of bright blonde hair that sat upon his head. There was no mistaking Yu Q. "WHAT THE HECK???" Hikarino was confused. He looked in front of the mirror, surprised.
He stared at the reflection—the sight jarring him to his core. It was him, and yet utterly wrong. He'd just... just moments ago... he'd been hanged.
"Just what on earth is happening..." The last thing he remembered was being executed, but suddenly the next thing he knows it was—he was in his bed.
The very bed he was sleeping in years ago when his mother was still alive.
He reached for his neck, trying to see if there were any marks on them. "Not a single scratch..."
"From this day forth, Hikarino is nothing but a dead man!" He declared a change to himself. He wasn't lying; Hikarino was dead. He was executed. He was hanged.
Hikarino doesn't exist anymore. He is now Shu.
Shu won't make the same mistakes. He'll make sure of it.
"A second chance, huh..." Shu whispered. "Maybe... maybe this is for the better..." A second chance was brought upon him—a chance he never thought he could have.

Wilson tilted his head, brows furrowing. “What’s with the face? You look like you’ve seen a ghost.”
Claude didn’t breathe.
Because you are a ghost, he wanted to say. Because he held your body in his arms, and you were already cold, because he watched life leave your eyes while you bled into his hands and you smiled.
But Wilson was smiling again. Like he used to, when things were lighter. Like he used to, before Claude tripped into the worst versions of himself and dragged Wilson down with him.
“I’m not,” Claude said.
“I know it’s weird. I didn’t think I’d come back either.” Wilson laughed lamely, falling short. “Well. Not come back, come back.”
That small qualifier settled in his bones right next to his failure and his despair.
Or: Yu Q. Wilson is dead. His team has to deal with a ghost projection of him when their villain-of-the-week brings him out. They reach some conclusions, and start new beginnings.
