Twelve years ago, an attempt by Bart and Milhouse to uncover Sideshow Bob's latest plan would have terrible consequences, as it would end with Milhouse dead, Bart traumatized, and Sideshow Bob on death row. Now, twelve years later, with Bob's execution date finally set, Bart abruptly rescinds his testimony, pulling a few strings to have Bob released, all in the hopes that Bob might make good on the promise he had made during his trial, to kill Bart.

No resemblance to any actual musicians intended, considerable liberties with my representation of the RNCM. Indeterminate time-frame: a bit like the Manchester of my teens (and its often unfortunate social attitudes); in other respects more up-to-date. The Mancunian rain is entirely accurate, however, and I make no apology for that.

Al-Haitham, despite what his physique would suggest, spends most of his time in his office, working; in some obscure corner in the House of Daena, reading; or in his living room in as horizontal of a position as possible, usually going through a new record he's bought or parsing the pages of a frivolous new romance novel from Fontaine, sunlight trickling in through the windows like streaks of melted butter, cradling his hair and face like a mother would an infant.

It is with all this in mind that Kaveh decides to take Al-Haitham to the opera.

A mysterious genderqueer stranger Apolycos joins in their reverie, having traveled to the crumbling space station from the surface dwelling on the planet below them. Anima's former friend Yafira yearns for the intimacy the two girls once shared, unsure how to accept the distance between them since Anima went away. Alexo, Cyon's best man, desires Yafira but knows she won't ever embrace him. Jealousy swirls amongst the friends at Apolycos' entry into their lives, and it's further confused by a shambling ghost haunting the halls of the space station, threatening to reveal their darkest secrets and most intimate moments.
