Summary
"I would have expected to see you in the cockpit," Payback started, as Jake tried to keep his attention on the radio chatter. Harvard, Yale, and Fritz were up there.
He was not going to take the bait. He was not going to give them that satisfaction.
"Well, maybe the brass finally share our conclusions. That you cannot be trusted up there," Phoenix went on, just as coldly as Payback.
"You finally screwed up enough to be grounded?" Fanboy asked. "Or is it because of Bee's death?"
At the mention of his wingman's callsign, his grip tightened around the pen and clipboard he had in hand. He had heard it all before, the gossip, the accusations, but never from people he had once considered his family.
"I received orders," he answered, stoically, eyes still glued on the radio. "I'm here to teach, to lead you to success. That's it."
"Bagman, the only place you'll lead anyone is an early grave," Rooster stepped in, anger clear as day in his voice.
🛩️ Permanently grounded and wingless, Hangman must team up with Maverick to prepare the Dagger Squad for the suicide mission. Will they be able to set aside their feelings or crash and burn before they even fly that mission?

Summary
Jake Seresin grew up without love and with even less hope for the future. At sixteen, he’d assumed to be long six feet under by now, but somehow, he made it to thirty. He was successful, managing to scare away the ghosts of his past. Life was good, especially now that he and Rooster made some kind of truce after the mission.
Seven-year-old Javy Machado watches a small blonde boy sitting in the corner of the classroom, bruises covering his face, tears simmering in his eyes.
Thirty-year-old Coyote watches his best friend fall in love and wonders if this is finally the happy ending Jake deserves or if he has to watch out to catch him when his heart gets broken all over again. -

The mission is over, Maverick and Rooster are alive, and the Dagger Squad are given time to reconvene. It's great, exciting even, but Hangman is struggling to breathe.

Summary
The eight men Jake would’ve once given his life for (and in one case almost did) were little more than a distant memory. Fuzzy with age, where those memories had been overwritten with newer happier ones.
That was until the Dagger Squad’s newest orders came through. A joint training camp. Two weeks of being put through their paces and showing the brass what they’ve got. And suddenly all those memories came flooding back, far more vividly than Jake even thought they could…
It was a seemingly random Thursday in June, perfectly ordinary. Morning hops with Mav had been great, the old man continuing to find new ways to push them all to their limits. Yet again no one had gotten tone on him so each of the Daggers grimaced through their 200 pushups whilst cursing Payback and his stupid cocky idea.
Debrief had run smoothly as ever right up until a last minute interruption from Cyclone. The apology in the man’s eyes was as great a sign as any that what was coming wasn’t news they wanted to hear. Most resigned themselves to an emergency mission, likely one with high stakes. But they were all wrong and by the time Cyclone’s eyes met Jake’s, he understood.
The Vigilantes were coming.

Summary
Blackwater Institute has conducted experiments on mermaid test subject JK-15 for 10 years. Javy "Coyote" Machado is selected by Admiral Tom "Iceman" Kazansky to infiltrate the Institute and uncover the truth. His mission is to extract JK-15 from their clutches. Once inside, the horrors he witnesses against innocent mermaids, particularly JK-15, leave him stunned. Getting JK-15 out is the easy part; helping him recover is much more difficult.
JK-15 doesn't remember its name or that it is not an object or mere test subject. JK-15 knows it had a family at one point (two dads, an older brother, and a horde of uncles), but it doesn't remember them well. The introduction of the new test subject JM-903 changes everything.

Summary
When Bradley is called back to Top Gun, he's expecting to potentially see his parents again, but he's not expecting to see Jake. Not after he heard the omega had been injured during Purge Night two years ago and was medically discharged from the Navy. His ex and the mother that betrayed him, he's not sure what he's going to do.
Jake never thought he'd run into Bradley again, hell, he made sure to avoid the alpha ever since their nasty break-up two years ago, but life has a way of screwing him over. He's not sure how he's going to handle seeing the alpha again when things have changed so much already. At least he's got Javy.
(You do not need to have seen any of the purge movies to read this)

Summary
The door to Rooster and Jake’s room is cracked just enough that Javy can look inside and see Mickey and Jake curled up together in Jake’s nest.
The sight alone makes a lump form in his throat and tears sting his eyes. Jake has a nest. The last time the omega built one was in the academy. Ever since Rooster put that fucking bite on his neck, the omega has mainly used the shitty pre-built ones you get off Amazon. This one, while smaller and hesitant still, is a real nest. One Jake built because he felt safe enough to do so.

“No I mean like I’m trans too and I uh I get it so…” he babbled.
That finally got Hangman to pay attention.
“Okay,” he said more seriously now.
“So uh, truce?” Rooster smiled sheepishly, sticking his hand out.
———
Or, Rooster and Hangman had met years ago, before Hangman transitioned and now their both back at Top Gun together and sharing an identity as well as a mission. Will it bring them closer together or push them farther apart? -

Summary
Given Hangman’s personality, I think he would’ve sought out Maverick for an explanation after Rooster gets picked for the Mission. So of course Jake is going to be dramatic and angsty because we all love seeing our boys being put through the wringer. But don't worry -- it has a fluffy ending.
The meeting of the representations of Maverick may now begin! (Because I see Hangman as the embodiment of a young Maverick, before he lost Goose, and Captain Maverick as … well … Captain Maverick.)
