Fíli and Kíli have always known they would be together for the rest of their lives. Little did they know how short those lives would be or that they would both yearn for the love of a hobbit by the end of them. When they are given a second chance by the Valar, with a set of requirements, they set out to complete the quest again. Maybe this time, they can avoid at least some of the danger that plagued their original journey. Or just spend more time teasing their hobbit. That would be good too.
(Time travel fix-it in which Fíli and Kíli are besotted with Bilbo, nothing goes to plan, and Bilbo will forever be confused by the minds of dwarves.)

Looking around, he tried to imagine him here, not Shane Hollander the hockey player, but his Shane, the man who made the darkest rooms feel like home. He felt suddenly certain that they would welcome him with love and respect. And, God help him, he was still hoping like an idiot that Shane would walk through the door.
Ilya tightened his grip on his roasting stick, jaw set, trying to divert his thoughts back to the present, when a ripple went through the group. Conversation dipped, then stopped completely.
