There's a cave in the Underdark where not even the most fearless of drow wish to enter. Mothers whisper to their children about that cave, warning them not to venture too close to its mouth. "Yellow-eyed beasts live there," they'd say. "Beasts with the appearance and manner of drow, but don't let their faces deceive you - they're the servants of Vecna, the Whispered One." They tell stories of a young drow who cannot speak, the last of her tribe. The yellow spider. "She's as silent as the wind, as invisible as a shadow. If you ever manage to catch a glimpse of her amber eyes, the last thing you'll see is a bolt of red light, and your soul will part with this world in half a heartbeat."
Most stories for children, of course, are fictitious. But, what most drow mothers don't know is that Sbat'stra Arkentyl is very much alive, and they're also very much tired of said stories. After all, they've got an Illithid parasite to deal with, and six silly idiots to babysit. -

Tav—ferocious leader, potential savior of or possible doom-bringer to Baldur’s Gate—gets replaced by an earthling, who barely holds it together when she realizes she’s trapped inside a game. The story starts in Act 1 when all companions have already been recruited, and the party has established a well-working command structure. But with Tav acting so weird, chaos erupts among the companions, turning the journey into a sequence of strange encounters and creative ways of problem-solving.
Or a different form of coming-of-age story as in how a simple teacher learns to become a leader.

Summary
This is a self-indulgent slow burn based on the videogame. Rich with banter, drama and action, inspired by the unique experience I had with a mix of EA content and romance glitches. While it does follow the main plot, I've added a lot of new twists, character development, cinematography and interpretations that I hope will keep things from feeling stale/repetitive. Please keep in mind: my intention isn't to recreate the game from the ground up, so sometimes I'm writing with the expectation that the reader either knows, or has seen these characters/settings somewhere on the internet.
