Summary
Zuko realizes his destiny much earlier. As in, as soon as he wakes up in the palace after his Agni Kai and is told he is banished. Unfortunately, he's never been a patient one. So he storms right up to Ozai and tells him what he's going to do. And gets locked up for over three years. Then, one day, he's being pulled out and told he's the new Fire Lord.

1: The Western Air Temple has many useful perches. Hakoda was not prepared for this.
2: Momo finds Ozai's prison cell. It goes about as well as you could imagine.
3: Hakoda confronts Ozai in his cell. Ozai learns he no longer has a son.
4: Ozai escapes prison exactly two times. Both times, he is apprehended and humiliated...by animals. Zuko is unaware of both mishaps.
5: Toph chooses what to do, when she can do it, and why she does it. And she chooses to be friends with their resident firebender. It goes so much deeper than friendship.
6: The first time Zuko laughs in front of them, it's on Ember Island. And there's rain while there's sunshine.
7: All that could be heard from the dungeon was pained shrieks, an off-key tsungi horn, and the mad cackling of a young girl.
8: Toph and Zuko aren't sure how parents actually work. They sure as fuck aren't sure how families work. This is slightly concerning.
9: Toph and Zuko devise a murder plot, with Momo as a willing accomplice. That mustache is going down.

Summary

Summary
Combustion Man never finds the Western Air Temple, and the Gaang goes ahead with the plan to capture Zuko and hold him prisoner so he can’t hurt anyone. Now Zuko has to convince them he’s on their side without having any proof he doesn’t want the Avatar dead anymore, and preferably before Katara decides to kill him.
… If only he weren’t so bad at being good.
