Puffy put the clipboard down. “Have you done anything fun this week?”
“Not really.” Wilbur thought back on his week. He was living with Phil now, well, really, it was more like he was living in Phil’s attic, and all he did all day was lie in bed. Sometimes he’d write, but he had little to show for it, and sometimes he’d go to his burger van, still illegally parked on the Las Nevadas border, and he’d piss off Quackity. For that, all he had to show was a bruised side. “I… I did a crossword with Phil.” He cringed as soon as the words left his mouth. God, who even was he? He used to fight in wars, he used to do things with his life, and now the most eventful thing he can do is a crossword puzzle.
Puffy nodded, smiling, “And how was that?”
Or: Wilbur finally gets therapy, and he learns that healing is not always linear.

Quackity clasped his hands together and closed his eyes. “H-Hello?” His voice was raspy and broken from disuse. He cleared his throat, “Hello. I-I need help, any at all. Just… food or protection or… anything. I'm sorry, I do not know who patrons this temple, but I'm willing to do whatever you need.”
Apophis was in a deep slumber. Had been for centuries. He was a forgotten god and served no more purpose. And then, he was awoken.
There was a young man at his altar. A mortal.

Wilbur crossed his arms and frowned. “Fine then. I’ll just sit here on the floor where I belong instead, shall I?” He said, dropping to his knees and leaning his head against Quackity’s knees.
Quackity sighed in exasperation, then he glanced down and really looked at Wilbur. Okay, well… that was quite adorable. A grin split across his face. “You’re like a really annoying pet dog, you know that?”
Wilbur frowned harder, if that was possible. “What?”

Tommy’s life hasn’t always been this great. Don’t get him wrong. He’s lucky, really. Not many kids like him, orphaned with plenty of trauma, get a chance quite like this.
He took in a deep breath of the fresh air around him, he looked over the railing and around at the view, oh the view.
If you told him that he’d be able to speak on stage at a party hosted by Pandora – Hero Commission, he would’ve laughed, hard, right in your face. But here he is, and he can’t help but be proud of himself. At how far he’s come. From a slippery little escape artist. To a hero. And not just any hero, he was Apollo, The Number Two Hero. Above The Blade. Tommy was rated above The Blade, can you believe that?
So, despite all his fears, Tommy knew he could do this. He can do this and so much more.
Tommy was interrupted from his thoughts by a hand on his shoulder and a voice, “Apollo?” Tommy whipped around to face a young man with dark brown hair and even darker eyes, “Pleasure to meet you. I’m sorry if I scared you.” The corners of his eyes crinkled with a smile.
Or: Tommy was finally happy with his life. He had a family, a home, and he was a damn hero. Too bad a villain had to ruin it.

He lives in a shitty apartment because he wants to, he avoids all heroes, vigilantes and villains because he wants to, he’s perfectly fine with having zero control over his destructive power and he’s perfectly fine with letting his car get stolen by extremely famous villains– wait, no. No, no he’s absolutely not fine with that, his... His car!
He’s perfectly fine with getting adopted by said villains.
…Maybe that one is true but you didn’t hear it from him.
Or; Tommy gains a family and it all started with a stolen car.
