Sirius nods enthusiastically, like this is the best idea in the world, and heads over to the other side of the Astronomy Tower. He takes his position, looking back at Regulus. “On my count. One, two, three!”

Summary

It had started to rain, now. Of course it had. Because where Sirius was lightning and crackling electricity, Regulus was the drizzle that accompanied. He was grey skies and bleak clouds and thunderstorms and, behind his brother, he was nothing but a blurry background. And James—
James was the sun.
Not just because he was warm, or charming, or beautiful, but because he was always there. James Potter was infallible. Even Regulus, moody and miserable as he was, couldn't drive him out of the sky.
The rain started to come down harder, clamping frigid fangs into his bare skin, but Regulus couldn't move. Couldn't do anything but stare at James as he tilted his head up, water gathering along the rims of his glasses and fogging up the lenses.
And, Merlin, Regulus wanted to kiss him.
Or, it's Sirius Black's 17th birthday, and James is determined to fix the relationship between the brothers in time for it.

“Regulus!” Sirius’ voice suddenly sounds muddy and indistinct. “What the fuck is wrong with you?”
Regulus isn’t quite sure. He stumbles backwards a bit as he blinks, attempting to sort out the sudden rush and pouring stream that is overtaking him.
“Have to…” Regulus’ voice sounds distant even to his own ears. “Need to…”
“Oh god, was he poisoned?” Comes Peter’s voice, sounding on-edge. “It was right after he ate- Sirius, that was supposed to be your cake!”
“You don’t think I know that?” Sirius bites back, but Regulus isn’t listening. He’s only staring into thin air, blinking slowly as his world crumbles around him.
“James-” Regulus bites out, the name so packed with emotion, and yet not muttered of his own volition. “I need you, James.”

Regulus accidentally takes a love potion and falls for James Potter.

Summary

James Potter would do anything for Sirius Black, including telling Sirius' brother Regulus to keep away when Sirius needs it. James quickly sees that there might still be hope for Regulus to be convinced to leave Grimmauld Place, and he decides to try to help. Things go a little awry and James ends up getting a little closer to Regulus than anyone expected.
When Regulus gets twisted up in one of the Marauders' pranks and he and James need an alibi, they get even closer.

Regulus Black had been having a good year. He'd managed to get out of going home for the holidays, prepping for OWLs was going well, he hadn't fought with Sirius (he hadn't seen Sirius), and he, Evan, and Barty had successfully undergone the animagus transformation. Sure, he still had to successfully carry out the whole running away thing, but that was future Regulus's problem.
Everything was monotomous and predictable, just how he liked it.
At least it was, until Barty had an idea.
What if they got back at the so-called 'marauders' for all the grief they'd given the Slytherins over the years? And with their animagus forms, it's not like they'd be seen or caught...
What could possibly go wrong?

James finally looked up then, his grin wicked.“Oh, mi amor,” he said lowly, his thumb pressing into the soft skin of Regulus’s stomach as he slid his other hand lower, fingers brushing the waistband of his jeans.
“I don’t come back because you’re patient,” he said, leaning in so his lips brushed Regulus’s ear. “I come back because watching you fall apart before I even fuck you properly is the best part.”
