“Yeah, I gettchu, Goldfishie. With a mom like that, I’d rather stay away from the ocean too,” Floyd replied. “Probably would’ve drowned me if I wrote the letter ‘a’ with a straight line at the side instead of a curved one,” Floyd mumbled. Ruggie snorted loudly. Riddle stared at him in disbelief.
“Floyd I swear-”
“Nahh, for real though. Your mom is like if the tower princess’ mom was 10 times as worse,” Ruggie agreed. Riddle sighed with annoyance.
“Have you ever heard of Falkland’s law?” Riddle asked with a bite. Ruggie placed his hands behind his head, and tilted it away to not face Riddle.
“Um have you ever hear of Fuck-My-Ass’ law?” Didn’t think so, Ri,” Ruggie said cheekily. Riddle’s face burned red.

“Neither of my parents said it. Not to each other. Not to me.” A pause. “Not unless it was a reward. Something to be earned. A performance.”
Floyd didn’t speak. He just held him. Listening.
“So every time you say it, I—I don’t know what to do with it. I don’t know how to hold it properly. It feels like… like if I say it back, I have to be something. Something perfect. Something good enough to deserve it.”
He blinked rapidly, the pressure behind his eyes building. “And I know you don’t think like that. I know it’s not conditional for you, but… I haven’t unlearned it yet.”
“I don’t say it,” Riddle whispered, “because I don’t want to say it wrong. Or say it when I’m scared, or not sure, or trying to be someone I’m not.”
“I want to say it when I can’t not say it. When it’s real. When it feels like mine.”

Summary
Riddle’s mother wasn’t a bad person. She was strict, quick to anger, and didn’t always listen to others, but she wasn’t a bad person. She had reasons for what she did. No matter what, in the end, Riddle could understand it.
And if anything…worse than usual happened, then all Riddle had to do was wait. Eventually, everything would go back to normal.
So when she adds a strange addition to the drawing room, Riddle tries his best not to worry. But all his efforts turn out to be for nothing when he sees the finished product.
Because his mother has boughten a person, and suddenly nothing is normal ever again.
Riddle’s life spirals down a path of old memories and new realizations as he does whatever he can to try and fix things for his family, and more importantly- the mer his mother has imprisoned.
