Stede's heart was beating like a hammer in the dark. He felt like he was really at the mercy of a predator ready to tear him to pieces.
"It's very annoying," Blackbeard said. His tone managed to be low and cautious, with no need to whisper. He quickened the pace: “It's really annoying for my reputation as a pirate, and in general, that word has spread that you are some sort of my weak point. I could handle it as long as it was just between you and me, but that's not good at all."

Summary
Five years after her father is killed first by a jungle cat, then by a carriage, and then by a falling piano, Alma Bonnet decides that his absence in her life is, quite frankly, complete horse shit. Obviously the only way to find him is to run away and become a pirate. Because that makes complete and total sense.
