This time, his voice is effective. Weary but exponentially warm golden-brown eyes flit up from the mess of gears and screws Jayce is carefully accounting for, a scar-nicked brow turns up in wholesome attentiveness as he tunes in to his companion's query.
"Hm?" Comes a still partly-distracted response.
Viktor makes a little sound partway between an exhale and a chuckle.
"I said," He begins again. "I believe that I ran into an old colleague of yours this morning."
Or,
Jayce struggles to deal with an old headache. An old headache that might just want to sleep with his lab partner.

Summary
What are you doing here?” Viktor is halfway out of his seat, grabbing his cane as he gets to the door.
Willem grins, blowing a bubble as they look Jayce up and down. “Did ya forget the date, baby?”
Jayce makes an odd sound then, almost like he is choking on something, and Viktor ignores Willem’s stupid little jab to turn to his partner.
“Are you alright Jayce?”
The man in question finally seems to snap out of his reverie and nods. He is standing stiffer than Viktor has ever seen him; even during his trial, he looked more relaxed.
“I’ll, uh. I’ll go back to working.”

A friend of Viktor from Zaun comes to visit. Jayce reacts strongly.

“In my shadow?” Fushiguro asks. Itadori can hear the snip as he cuts a strip of gauze. “Aside from my shikigami, cursed tools, and occasionally Kugisaki’s shopping? Uh, a bit of emergency supplies. Snacks. Water. Some medication like allergy meds, T.”
“Tea?” Itadori asks, confused, as Fushiguro tapes the gauze down. “I thought you preferred coffee?”
Fushiguro sticks the last piece of tape down, letting out a huff of breath through his nose as he rests his hands on his knees. He gives Itadori a blank look. Kugisaki snorts a laugh.

“Ever the charmer, Talis.” He rolled his eyes and turned to walk away, figuring this conversation was not worth his precious time only for Jayce to tutt disapprovingly.
“No, no, no. I’m not finished with you yet, come back.” Jayce called out and just as he suspected, Viktor halted mid-step with a shiver and turned on his heel, quickly returning to Jayce’s side.
“Hm.” Jayce hummed, looking his partner over curiously, watching the other man squirm under the intense scrutiny.
“Are you going to keep observing me as if I am some sort of machine that needs work? Or am I free to leave?” Viktor huffed impatiently and Jayce found himself smirking.
“Of course you’re free to leave. Actually, I’m more fascinated by the fact that it seems like you can’t.” He pointed out slyly and Viktor tensed.

When Viktor has an incident with a 'faulty' hexcrystal, he finds himself unable to deny commands when given to him. This causes some issues for Viktor when a persistent man chats him up at a bar at a fundraising event, trapping him in an uncomfortable position, luckily Jayce intervenes in time and the night leads to drunken confessions that Jayce hopes he still means in the morning with a sober mind.Bookmarked by Fake_Ruby

Then he took a deep breath and he changed. He ironed out every fold in his posture and his face until he looked like Superman again. His shoulders were broad, his gaze was confident, and his smile showed no sign of embarrassment or fear.
It’s genuinely uncomfortable to watch.
Especially since Bruce knows that change. He’s seen it in the mirror before entering parties or nightclubs. He’s always referred to it, internally, as 'putting on my better face.' The façade is his least favourite part of the day, ranking just below 'getting punched by supervillains.'
The idea that Superman is just Kal's better face, that would explain a lot.
It would also mean Bruce isn't alone.

Mike points to him enthusiastically. “Thank you, Lucas.”
Dustin looks between the two of them, his eyes narrowed.
“...Would we?”
“Sure,” Mike concludes. “He’s attractive. That’s not a weird thing to think.”
Will just barely resists the urge to bang his head against the table. He feels Dustin’s eyes glued to his burning face, and sinks even further down his chair.
In which Mike tells Spider-Man that he has a crush on his best friend, and Will jumps to some very wrong conclusions.
