After a battle leaves Optimus vulnerable, Megatron abducts him and drags him to an abandoned Cybertronian factory - a graveyard of the past they shared. With a memory extraction device in hand, he tries to peel away the Prime’s armor and resurrect the archivist beneath.

On a sudden stop to Cybertron, Megatron’s uncharacteristic disembarkment startles the crew. In a desperate search for the ex-warlord, Rodimus soon finds him looming over Optimus Prime in the derelict remains of the Hall of Records.
His servo reached out – one littered with the blood of planets, indicating no mercy to who was once his greatest nemesis. Rodimus would never make it in time! Nonetheless, he had to help Optimus.
Yet just as Rodimus emerged from his nestled hiding spot between two collapsed shelves, Megatron rotated his arm struts to reach a servo out warmly. From the disgustingly fond edge of his tone to the unnecessary movements to pull Optimus to his pedes despite the other being completely capable – it’s truly baffling.
AKA Rodimus tries to comprehend Megatron’s strange demeanour towards his ex-enemy.

In which X isn’t found by Chief R and the Resistance, but Zero was, and X was left to rot for a couple months in a river.
Zero ends up taking X’s place, albeit reluctantly and because he knows it’s what X would have done.
