It starts small, just little things that Robby hardly registers at first. It’s a busy day, it’s been a busy week, so when it vaguely ticks that Dennis is a little quieter than usual during rounds, fumbling his notes, missing cues he normally catches, he doesn’t actually think twice about it.
Nor how when Robby asks him a question about a patient’s chart, and Dennis blinks like he’s been startled awake.

Athena’s eyes flash and glow, and she raises her hands. Annabeth closes her eyes, and everything in the air sizzles to a stop. There is a faint sea breeze, and then a familiar presence at her side.
“It would be unwise of you to hurt her.”
She opens her eyes to her boyfriend’s dad standing behind her, his eyes intent on her mother, who looks like she’s about to blow her top. Annabeth doesn’t breathe, doesn’t look away from Athena, but she takes several quick steps back to stand at Poseidon’s side. It’s not conscious; it’s a move based purely on self-preservation. Still, Annabeth is aware that every step she takes into the sea increases her mother’s ire and decreases the likelihood that Annabeth will ever be forgiven.

"Jim?" Stede peers around them through the open door, as if he's expecting someone else, then back at their face. All he's wearing is a blue robe that Jim knows from experience is exquisitely soft. "We weren’t expecting you until our date on Thursday, is everything alright?"
"Sorry," Jim rasps, white-knuckling the door jamb. Their hands are starting to feel a little numb, black spots in their vision. "Sent you a text. Olu's gone, an’ I'm really sick. Didn't know where else to go."
And then they faint, like a fucking loser.
Of course Jim would get the horrible flu while Oluwande is on vacation with Zheng. Luckily they have two other boyfriends who are more than happy to take care of them. Featuring Jim being carried more than they want to be (how embarrassing), Bearluwande the Build-A-Bear Oluwande substitute, and a whole lotta fluff.

Summary
Getting separated from Minato-sensei wasn’t an uncommon occurrence. The three of them were experienced enough at this point that they could run a mission by themselves, and they had, many times, the first of which had been that fateful mission that cost Kakashi an eye and put Obito in the hospital for several weeks.
Getting injured was also a semi-common occurrence. What shinobi doesn’t get a little (or a lot) banged up every other mission?
So what happens when Team Minato is separated from their sensei; injured, sick and suffering from chakra exhaustion?
