This is going in circles. Tomura decides to try a different tactic. “You know, your eyes are as clear as the ocean.”
The sudden switch clearly dumbfounds Dabi, because he blinks a couple times. “Well, because they’re blue.”
Tomura has to bite back a laugh. “It’s a compliment, you idiot. Means your eyes are pretty.”
Dabi grimaces and turns his head to the side, hand going up to hide his cheek. After a few seconds, smoke starts curling up from behind it. “Shut up,” he snaps, “stop making fun of me.”
“Why would I make fun of you?” Tomura asks, unsure of what’s going on. He’s never seen Dabi react like this. “I’m completely serious, Dabi. You have nice eyes.” He leans to the side a little bit, tries to get a good look at Dabi’s face to figure out what’s going on.
With a sound that Tomura completely fails to decipher, Dabi shoves him aside and quickly leaves the kitchen.
But that little glimpse before he reacted was enough to tell him, to his surprise and absolute delight, that Dabi had been blushing.
