With Thor by their side, the Avengers had held their ground against Odin's relentless efforts to take over their realm; batallions of Einherji had failed to make a dent in their defenses, and Tony was liking their odds of showing the would-be conqueror just how tenacious mortals could be.
At least, he liked them, until the new guy showed up.
Loki, Thor called him, but that was most of what he could tell them, was powerful, sly, and clearly determined to mess with them. He was a chaotic, mischievious little bastard, and for the love of science, Tony couldn't understand why Odin's supposedly most loyal servant wasn't making use of his skills to turn the tide his master's way...

Loki doesn’t remember the last moments of his fall, nor does he remember the moment his weakened body impacts the hard crust of Midgard’s surface... He vaguely registers voices speaking English, speaking rapidly and speaking over each other, then all semblance of consciousness slips away…
Two weeks later Coulson tells him, “Mr. Stark has agreed to put you up in his New York home and you can expect me or another agent to check in periodically. Please try to maintain a low profile.”

An alternate universe in which Loki falls from the Bifrost, but instead of landing in the tangled web of Thanos, he lands on Earth. Loki’s lover has a temper. He can get violent but that wasn’t his fault. He says things he promises he doesn't mean but Loki knows it's a lie. Loki was everything he told him he was, he was pathetic and useless, but Loki would do anything to keep him because without him Loki was nothing.
But when a normal day for The Avengers gets Loki noticed by a Supervillain, his relationship with his lover is tested. The perfect life Loki has set up is unraveling. His past isn’t as buried as he had first thought and things that were supposed to stay dead are very much alive. No matter how much Loki says he's happy, he can't convince himself anymore but he can't bring himself to walk away.
Secrets are revealed but Loki prefers the term omission rather than lies.

Loki told him everything. With mounting horror, Tony learned about Asgard's idea of acceptable punishment, and how it wasn't even punishment at all, but an honour. He learned that Thor's version of brotherly love was far removed from everyone else's. He learned that Loki had a son that looked like Thor but had his eyes, and that he didn't even know his child's name. Tony wanted to be sick. He wanted to march to Asgard and demand what wrong with them. He wanted to kill something. This...this was wrong. So very wrong.
In which Tony finds a lost Norse God, finds out what Asgard thinks is the right thing to do, and is not going to let them just get away with it.
