“I already have boyfriend!” Ilya declared, pulling his jacket around himself like a shield. “Are practically engaged!”
Shane just stared. “Ilya. It’s me.”
“Only my boyfriend may unwrap me.” Ilya announced. “Is respect.”
Ilya gets drunk and refuses to be touched by anyone except his boyfriend. Unfortunately for Shane, Ilya does not realize his boyfriend is the one taking him home.

“Hello?” Ilya prodded. “Are you there? I thought you were supposed to be polite Canadian boy.” A breath of laughter sounded in his ear and Ilya perked up despite himself even if he did beat down his grin with sheer force of will. “Are you drunk? You drank without me and now you miss me. Very sad for you.”
“I—"
Ilya’s smile dropped in an instant and his feet hit the carpet as he vaulted off the bed. Something was wrong. Hollander sounded wrong.
“Hollander, what is wrong?” Ilya demanded and listened hard.
Then he heard it. Shaky inhales and even shakier exhales that made his stomach drop to the floor.
“I need—" Hollander’s voice broke as he took in a pained breath. He was in pain.
Ilya started scrambling for his shoes. “Talk to me, Hollander.”

“Huh,” Hunter responds.
“It would be funny to hear me,” Ilya corrects, “I am funny. The other two are boring.”
He hears Hollander huff out a laugh and bump shoulders with him as Hunter continues to ask questions. Casually glancing over to the other man, he sees a small smile playing at his lips. His eyes, though, there was a gleam that he hadn’t seen before. He wasn’t certain what it could mean, but it couldn’t be good for Ilya.

He couldn’t stop replaying the last time he had been in this building with all of them. He couldn’t stop hearing his teammates accusing him of throwing the game for Ilya, saying he fell on purpose. All he could feel was his heart fracturing inside his chest.

Ilya felt his heart fall into his stomach, afraid of the next words to come out of his Coach’s mouth.
“We asked the rookies who they’d like to live with and, well, LaPointe wanted to board with you, Chouinard. And Young with you, Bood,” Wiebe then turned to Ilya who had frozen on the spot, “And Roz, Haas wants to live with you.”
Bood and Chouinard chuckled as they watched Ilya’s eyes widen in horror.

As she watched Rozanov skate half circles around Shane's unconscious body in the unnatural quiet of the Boston arena, Jackie Pike's heart raced. Her whole body shook as her brain struggled to make sense of what was happening. A few moments later, she recognized the Russian's expression. She'd seen it on the faces of other WAGs when their men went down hard. It was the physical manifestation of her recurring nightmare - Hayden motionless and bleeding after a hit, thinking she was about to lose the love of her life. Nothing else existed but that body lying on the ice.
This was exactly how Rozanov looked at him now, and the only possible explanation was love.
