    Summary

Night was never meant to exist like this.

After consuming the negative apples, he becomes bound to Mare—a parasitic force of negativity that both sustains and depends on him.

Together, they form Nightmare: a single being forced to survive in the shadow of a brother who believes happiness should be mandatory.

As Dream’s empire grows, rewriting grief into joy and guilt into obedience, souls begin to fracture under the strain. Nightmare gathers the outcasted and the condemned to fight for balance, choice, and the right to feel.

In a war fought over the definition of “good,” the most dangerous thing isn’t negativity.

It’s the refusal to feel it.

    (Old summary)
What if when Passive nightmare ate the negative apples he didn't just not die. But he got an annoying parasite that doesn't know basic human knowledge.
*I don't know how else to write this, but basically passive is the host and nightmare is the parasite.*

    Summary

"Edge was hunched in on himself, chin and shoulders tucked almost protectively. He looked defeated. Broken. Paps had seen the look often enough in the mirror that he really should have recognized it in another version of himself. There was more there, though. Fury under the fear, and a seed of determination that Paps lacked—determination, he realized, that would allow this version of himself to do terrible things in the name of survival."

In which UF!Papyrus is gravely injured, and UF!Sans brings him to Underswap to recover. UF!Papyrus doesn't know how to handle genuine kindness, and US!Papyrus learns there's more to this other version of himself than he ever guessed.

Warning: while there is a lot of fluff and light-hearted moments, there are also moments of heavy angst and some disturbing implications and themes. Trigger warnings are located in the endnotes of relevant chapters.
