Hinata blinks as their hotel room door softly clicks shut behind him. He turns around, showing Atsumu the backpack slung over his shoulders. It’s small, one of those every day type bags guys use when they’re going out for the day. “We’re only here for one night?” Hinata says, the pitch in his statement going up into a question toward the end.

Rain poured down incessantly and Hinata realized, during the morning’ rush he forgot the umbrella. He checked the time on his phone, and he knew he couldn’t wait further, the rain wasn’t going to stop.
“Fuck it.”
He rushed to cross the street, spotting the green light, but Hinata stepped on a slippery spot, losing his footing, agitating his arms until the world was upside down. Gritting his teeth, he prepared for the impact. Only, it never happened. An arm caught his waist, and an umbrella covered him from the rain. Shouyo blinked, sure he had seen that face already: deep chocolate eyes grinning with a wicked light, bleached blonde hair, dark undercut…

Silence. Then a sigh. “Context?”
“Uh. I may have convinced my sister that we were dating?”
“And?”
“And now she wants to meet him, so I’m actually supposed to be calling him to invite him right now.”
Sakusa pauses. “You’re an idiot. I can see him doing either very well or very poorly with that. How long would he be staying for?”
Atsumu groans. “I know. Just like. A week.”
“Just call him. Don’t tell him you’re supposed to be dating.”
“Then how are we supposed to be a better couple than Osamu and Akaashi?”
“Miya.” Sakusa’s exasperation is passing into dangerous levels. “Just flirt with him like you always do; you’ll be fine.”

The bastard hangs up on him. So much for helping your best friend in his time of need.-
Atsumu catches Osamu and Akaashi PDA-ing at a Christmas party and turns it into a competition. Hinata is just happy to be here.

Summary
This all leads back to why Miya was planning social murder on a Thursday in the middle of February. His...departure from Beta Delta had been messy, loud, and crippling for his ex-fraternity. Atsumu had considerable sway over their university’s social life; if he said someone was out, best believe they were out. Gracing a rival frat with his presence, likely plastered across social media, would be the final nail in the coffin.
Sakusa sighs, accepting defeat. This isn’t just Atsumu wanting to get drunk for free(ish) on a Thursday night; this is business.
The catalyst for Sakusa and Ushijima (finally) getting together is, of all things, a stupid frat party Atsumu dragged them to. Sakusa would be thankful, except Miya Atsumu makes it hard to ever feel positive things towards him.
