"thanks," the girl murmurs, and then she stretches across daniela. dani almost gets a mouthful of soft, dark hair, before the moment passes, and the girl returns to her work.
with little further thought to it, dani turns back to assignment, determined to conquer the final two questions.

Her legs are already moving, tearing toward a nearby police car. The officers are scattered, shouting orders, chasing the Hyde, clearing the ward. No one stops her. Agnes slips into the passenger seat with a smug little grin. Somewhere behind them, a voice shouts for them to stop, but it’s swallowed by the pounding in her head and the distant wail of sirens. Enid slams her foot down, steering toward the sound.
“Bold,” Agnes nods.

Summary
Katara grew up knowing cruelty. The sneers of fully armed men on ships larger than her entire village. The bright red of their flames. The harsh clangs of their swords and spears. The sad smile on her mother's face as she was manhandled away. It had always struck her as odd that despite the heat of their flames their eyes could be colder than even the unforgiving tundra of her home. Katara knows that there is evil in this world. She knew to look for the shadows, the dark spots that threatens to swallow the world whole.
When she meets the crown princess of the Fire Nation she expects to meet someone more shadow than person.
She learns something new instead.
Katara is 18 when she learns that even in the most cruel of worlds, nothing is ever just black and white.

“Dr. Granger?”
Holy shit.
Holy shit.
Her previous nonchalance about choking to death vanishes when she sees who’s standing in her door and a piece of fish hunkers down for a long winter in her esophagus.
“Are you--shall I perform the Heimlich?” He asks, face familiar and concerned as he moves a step closer. “I don't think your face should be that shade of purp--”
She cuts him off by vomiting into the trash can.
Airway finally clear, she gulps a few greedy breaths. Her lungs expand and her face burns, and Hermione genuinely wonders if she’s hallucinating. She’s not prone to fantastical thinking even though she’s well acquainted with the fantastic, but...why else would Draco Malfoy be standing in front of her?
Malfoy, on crutches.
Malfoy, handing her a tissue?
Malfoy, but...not.

The room was small, but functional. Cabinets lined the walls, kitchen items placed with careful purpose. Nothing grand - but lived in. Everything here had a place, had been touched and used and cared for.Azula had nothing like that anymore.
