Summary
When nine heroes were brought together on an adventure, they'd thought that that was all that they were; nine heroes, nine brothers, nine Links, all called to save the world together, as a team.
When evidence starts to indicate that one of them is more than that though, each hero takes it upon himself to defend his new knowledge and the brother that it concerns, unbeknownst to the rest. When Shanks and his crew first arrive at the quiet little fishing village where Vice Admiral Garp is rumored to spend his vacation time, there’s a kid on the dock who waves so enthusiastically at their incoming ship that he slips off the damp boards and topples into the water. Instantly, two smaller kids (who definitely weren’t waving) yelp and jump after him, grabbing the flailing kid’s arms in an effort to drag him towards dry land.
It’s funny, but not so funny Shanks doesn’t feel kinda bad, so he leaps down to help.
Which is how he meets nine year old Monkey D. Luffy, and his adopted six year old brothers, Ace and Sabo.

Summary
Zeff doesn’t outright take Sanji on a tour of the Cooking George, but he makes a point of showing off key spots when they take breaks from dominating the galley, and a bigger point of constantly touching the kid: a hand on top of his head or shoulder, nudging Sanji with his hip, periodically tapping him with his right foot. Usually that last one’s a precursor to somebody getting their ass kicked, but it just makes the boy smile every time, like Zeff’s red-stained boot means something special.
The whispers about cursed dreams are long gone by dinner, replaced by the crew wondering who exactly this kid is to their captain.

Before he could question him, or better yet kick the bastard as far away from the ship and his family as he could, the man’s gaze seemed to have focused on his face enough to mumble “Ah. Hey, failure,” before Yonji slumped against the boat, finally losing his grip and slipping into the sea.
