The story of "You're Like a Breath of Fresh Air", both from Eugene's and Babe's perspective.
I wrote Eugene's view, then the lovely Lady_Rhaena inspired me to write Babe's.
Eugene can't stand to listen to the cries of his men, knowing he's been instructed to sit back from the patrol. It's when he finds out that someone is drowning that he steps in.

Summary
It’s been seven years. Seven years since the last time he’d spoken to his parents. The number had been echoing in his mind all morning, ticking on like a stopwatch timer he never asked for.
He still texted his brothers every now and then. Small talk, obligatory check-ins, but none of it touched the dented, rusted spaces where real family had once fit. They would be better labeled as acquaintances than family members. Essentially just strangers with shared childhood memories.
Dennis told himself he was fine with that. That he didn’t need anything from them anymore, but the anniversary had a way of peeling open old wounds he usually kept duct-taped shut.
-- -- -- --
Or, Dennis was only born to donate parts of himself to his older brother with cancer. How will Dennis react when a similar situation walks into the Pitt? How will Robby react when he finds Dennis having his own breakdown in Peds?

Summary
The vending machine loomed tall over Dennis. The light from it cast a soft glow over his face as he gazed at the numerous multicolored packages of snack foods. Nearing the end of his shift, Dennis was undergoing decision paralysis; there were way too many options.
He knew his blood sugar was starting to drop, could feel the beginning signs of fatigue, irritability, and a subtle shakiness, and he couldn’t ignore the text from Michael telling him to eat something.
-- -- -- --
Or, Dennis can totally handle his diabetes, until McKay pulls him into a trauma case mid snack and his blood sugar drops critically low.

Summary
The last time Dennis had a conversation with Robby before the day they tumbled down a bridge together was a little over a year ago. It was minutes before dawn. The hallway light was just bright enough to illuminate the horror in the older man’s eyes.
“I’m sorry,” he said to Dennis, choking on the words and rubbing a palm over his eyes. His chest was heaving with breaths as if he'd just witnessed the end of the world instead of holding Dennis naked in his arms.
*
Or;
A year after a drunk hook-up with his attending at the end of his rotation, Dennis is back to the Pitt as a resident.

Bookmarker's Notes
oh . my . fucking . god.
""Dennis closed his eyes. He wished the man had the gall to just punch him.
“You didn’t deserve that. It was never about you,” Robby repeated. “It has always been my fault.”
“You think you are god,” Dennis said, mumbling to himself. His head was resting on the seat cushion, and he was too much of a coward to look the man in the eye as he said the words. He said them anyway. “You think everything is your decision, and everything is a consequence of your actions. But you’re just a man.”""
