“You are, of course,” Scott responded, grinning sharply, “That's funny, that you think that. No, Owen, I will not be helping with the construction. That's your job. If you need my opinion on something, by all means, I’ll happily give it; but vampire lords don't build their own castles.”

He was covered in mud. It was painted over his jeans and t-shirt, and his once white shoes were just clumps of dirt at this point. There was a stick poking out of his hair and a leaves practically pasted to his arms.
It had been a full moon last night.
“Honestly, Tommy, can’t you go one full moon without making a mess of yourself? It’s disgusting. You can’t stop yourself from rolling in the mud? I had thought we had trained that out of you.”

Once at the head Scott grabbed a nice handful of Avid's hair and slammed his face into the table, rattling his goblet. “Friends, this man is the figurehead of a rebellion that I have just snuffed out. About ten men and women have been disposed of for their treason and more being hunted down as we speak. Today we are celebrating the death of this rebellion!”
Avid growled beneath him, trying to break from his hold and failing miserably, “You haven't broken us. My death will only bring more unrest–”
“Death?” Scott asked, pretending to be surprised as he bent down over Avid, lips to his ear, “Now, who said anything about me killing you?”

Scott has been dealing with rebellion attempts for centuries, though nothing had ever come close to felling him. He's been keeping a sharper eye since those mages had tried to put him to sleep, their failure making him wise to human adaptability. Now a new rebellion is being stomped out and their leader is nothing more than an angry boy. He thinks he has just the plan for him.

He pulled off, eyes half lidded as he brushed the blood from the bite with his thumb, sucking it off as he stepped away. Legs stumbled back a step and Owen gently took an arm, settling him down in the grass. “You’re fine. You’re fine. You’ll be a bit woozy maybe but– uh–”
His eyes travelled down to the bite mark, which as far as he knew should have been nothing more than two pinpricks amongst pale skin. There was a Mark there—orange blossoms in the colors of a setting sun, slightly stained with smeared blood—that had not been there before.

Oh fuck. He’s coming back. Tommy curls up so none of his important organs are accessible, the guy has only strangled him up till now, but there was blood on the tarp, so maybe he likes to stab too. Tommy doesn’t want to be stabbed anywhere important.
Techno just sits on the other end of the couch and bounces his leg, mostly just looking at the fire, but occasionally glancing at Tommy.

It was daylight, not that you could tell from the enclosed room Xisuma had teleported Grian into. A bright, fantastic Hermitcraft day, his friends bustling about the server engaged in activities, cheerfully oblivious to what Xisuma and Grian were about to do in this room together. To what Xisuma was about to do to Grian.
Most Hermits weren’t big on tradition, when you got down to it. They’d been around too long, seen enough of the universe to have set preferences about their bodies, or they had their own plans for each season. Scar and Cub had recently finished with their predatory ConVex business, for instance, and Cleo kept her zombieness– zombitude? Zombiehood?-- firmly under her own control, and the less said about Joe’s usual brand of shenanigans, the better.
So it had been unusual, having a new player such as Grian bring the concept up in the roundabout fashion he had, side-eyeing Xisuma like he wasn’t sure whether Xisuma would just snatch him up one day, like he was checking off a box on some haphazard to-do list-- like he’d smacked himself on the helmet and gone oh, silly me, that’s right! I forgot to modify Grian to my personal preferences last month!
