Summary
The day is December 5th, and it somehow doesn’t feel any closer to Christmas.
It’s weird. School is out, grades are in, Scar has all the free time in the world—It’s the holidays—and yet, it doesn’t feel like it. The weather is in the 60s, there’s only a few small decorations out, and Scar feels weirdly empty. He doesn’t feel holiday joy, no Christmas cheer, no excitement inside of him about the season of giving being upon them.
It’s only December 5th, though, so he has some time. Hopefully Scar will figure it out soon enough.Or: Scar’s been finding it difficult to have any Christmas spirit. His roommates try to help.

This is nice. Grian never wants to leave, he decides. Maybe he’ll retire and get a job here just so he can drink coffee and play with his cats for the rest of his life.
Or—maybe not. Freedom or relaxation has never really been in the cards for him. Temporarily, yeah, but not forever. Sooner or later Grian will pay, walk out, and return to the life that was decided for him from the moment he was born.
Scar seems to have noticed something, as he pulls his attention away from the cats and places a hand onto Grian’s shoulder. “You alright? You’re spacing out and Jellie is biting at your hand.”
He gently pulls away from her and turns to Scar. “Yeah, sorry, just realized it’s getting close to my bedtime.”
Or: Grian is a Watcher who randomly decides one day to walk into Scar’s cafe.
