When Rolim wakes up after the crash of the Nautiloid, he can hardly believe the reality he finds himself in.

Sebastian freezes. His brain short-circuits, and for a moment he thinks this must be a dream. Because, hells, there's no way Vincent just said that. No way, he just dropped that question into the silence as if he were asking about the weather.
And yet, Vin is looking at him as though he's expecting an answer.
"W-What?" Sebastian stammers instead.
Vincent's brows draw together in a frown, and he shifts slightly, his lips parting as if he's about to repeat himself, but then, just as quickly, he stops and shakes his head.
"Right... It's a stupid question. I'm sorry. Just... forget about it," he mutters. His hands move automatically, picking up a cloth, drying off a spoon like the conversation never happened.
Sebastian stares. Then, something inside him snaps.

Summary

Astarion's eyes flick to Tav. For the first time this evening, his gaze rests. Tav's face shows nothing, carefully composed, unreadable even to Astarion's cunning.
It makes his gaze linger, makes him realise that Tav radiates that aura. The one Astarion has seen many times over the years, in Cazador as well as in his master's enemies and allies.
This power. It's delicious.
Astarion sees a way out of two centuries of servitude and abuse under his master Cazador Szarr in Tav, a fellow victim of the mind flayers' abduction.
His next steps are instinctive. Manipulation is what he knows, what he's good at, what his master kept him around for.
His plan works—until Astarion realises that Tav might be more than what he bargained for.
