“Kojiro-kun,” Kaoru’s dad said with his usual pleasant smile as Kojiro came into the room, ushered by Kaoru’s mother not far behind. Aside from a few additional wrinkles, that smile hadn’t changed much in the last thirty years. Noting Kojiro’s very obvious nervousness, Mr. Sakurayashiki frowned slightly. “Is everything alright?”
“Oh, uh, yeah,” Kojiro fumbled, swallowing thickly. He started to sit, stood up again, then paused half-sitting.
“Have a seat, sweetheart,” Kaoru’s mom advised gently as she sat on the sofa beside her husband. “You don’t look too good.”
“Yeah…” Kojiro agreed, not feeling too good either.
“So,” Kaoru’s dad prompted after a stolen glance at his wife (who just gave a tiny shrug, eyes a bit too wide and innocent, giving away that maybe she did know what this was about after all). “What’s going on, Kojiro-kun?”
“Mom. Dad. I—” Kojiro stopped himself, closing his eyes with a little shake of his head and taking a deep breath to reset. He opened his eyes and looked at them solemnly and sincerely. “Mr. and Mrs. Sakurayashiki, I came to ask for your permission to marry your son.”
Kojiro (finally) proposes. Or tries to.

In the PTMC, those regulations weren’t common. Then again, in the whole hospital, Dennis was one of two vampires. And the other had a blood letter. Dennis just had weird ass dive bars.

Which, okay, despite having no readily available memory of how, who, or why, this wasn’t an entirely unfamiliar feeling for him. He just had to slowly look and see who was sleeping so soundly and very nudely wrapped in his arms—
Oh. Oh shit.
No, this was super, totally 100% unfamiliar.
“Mmm.” Kaoru stretched a little, curling himself even tighter around Kojiro who had no fucking clue what was going on. He hummed again, sighing contentedly as he nuzzled into the crook of Kojiro’s neck. “Morning, baby,” he murmured, lips brushing against Kojiro’s skin.
Baby? Was Kaoru talking to him?!
What. The fuck. Was going on?
Why was he naked and in bed with his best friend who not only acted like this was totally normal but just called him baby and was that Kaoru’s…Kaoru pressed against him down there?
Kojiro wakes up next to a Kaoru that actually likes him. Something is horribly wrong.

Why would you still claim this,” he gestures to the stupid bowl of noodles, “this free lunch when you’ve already decided I was going to cheat you out of it, anyway? Is it because you’re lonely? Is it because you don’t have friends?” He comes up to his full height, crossing his arms in front of him. “Or maybe you don’t have friends because all you ever think about is how we can trick you and that all we ever want is to touch your tail.”
