Summary
Week One.
It’s freezing.
Cold presses up against his cheek and shoulder. The cotton tee, sweatpants and polyester socks aren’t nearly enough to keep out the chill. He doesn’t want to be dramatic, but if his bones turned to ice, he wouldn’t be surprised. His shoulder aches, bruised and stiff. He’d roll over to the other one if it didn’t feel the exact same. He’s choosing the lesser evil, it would seem. There’s been a lot of that this week.
The shackle around his ankle is tight and uncomfortable, the chain attached to it even more so. Every time he so much as twitches, it clinks against itself. Dick’s backed himself into quite the corner. Pinned by his own stupidity and ego. It’s clear the Titans aren’t on par. They were never on par. Slade had been six steps ahead the whole time, and now— well. Now he has what he wants.
Dick shudders.
An apprentice. How had he missed that?

Summary
Once he and Jason parked in the front of the house, he met the other man at the bottom of the stairs and felt the house spirit fluttering around him curiously. “You know, you could have mentioned you were Jason Todd.”
He remembered researching people he should know before he officially moved to Gotham. Most of the details were forgotten, but he did recall multiple articles that talked about Jason Todd being found alive and coming back home to his family after being presumed dead.
Jason shrugged uncomfortably, “Does that change anything?”
“Nah. There’s only one thing I love more than messing with people,” Danny shook his head with a grin. “Messing with rich people.”
*Danny Fenton just wanted canned pumpkin and maybe enough time to finish his research paper. Instead, he agrees to pretend to be Jason Todd’s fake friend for a family dinner in exchange for $100 and free dessert.
It was supposed to be simple: limp convincingly, don’t contradict the mugging story, and survive rich people.
But he finds that the Wayne Manor is not just a mansion and that family is not just a family.*

Summary
You and the others aren’t really sure what the Incident is, only that it happened, and it happened to Crowley.
The first big change: you’re back in the flat. Everyone is elated (the Anthurium pushes out three new leaves to celebrate.) Everyone except for Crowley, who flops facedown on his throne and stays that way for the rest of the week.
On the morning of the eighth day, he drags himself up.
“Right,” he says. He stares ahead without blinking for a moment. “Carry on, then.”
[Crowley loses Aziraphale. One of his houseplants notices.]

Aelwyn pointed her fork at her and scrunched her nose. “The Seacaster boy? Really, Adaine, I can’t imagine you tumbling around with those martial classes,” she said in a tone that said she absolutely could imagine Adaine in that situation. “I really don’t understand how you can be so entertained by him. He’s dreadfully obtuse.”
Adaine clenched her hand into a fist and debated how long she would be grounded for if she stabbed her sister. “He’s––” Kind, wonderful, brave, awesome. Arianwen leveled a heavy look at her. This was a test, then. “Useful. Nicer than you anyway. We study together.”
The jab meant nothing, no one in her family had ever been nice, as far as Adaine knew. But Mother’s lip twitched, not into a smile, never a smile for Adaine, but pleased enough for Adaine to know she passed.

Summary
Everything changes when Adaine is 15. Days before she starts high school, days before she meets the bad kids, days before everything begins. She wakes up one morning coughing, lungs struggling to take in air. Different from the way her panic attacks feel, but still familiar. Somewhere through it all, she manages to take a gasping breath as if she were a shipwrecked survivor finally coming up for air. She gasps and her ribs ache with the force it takes to finally breathe.

"I don't want to go!" Adaine had cried, when Aelwyn all but dragged her out of the house. "I don't like the forest!"
"Will you stop being a baby about it?" Aelwyn had scolded her. "We're just going to the edge of town. I want to look at the fauna myself, it's what researchers do."
Adaine had dragged her feet the whole way there, but she didn't have a choice; Aelwyn was tasked with watching her dumb baby sister, which meant she had free reign to bring Adaine anywhere she wanted to go, and it's not like their parents would care that they were outside by themselves.
"The forest keeps giving me nightmares," Adaine had protested glumly when Aelwyn plopped them both down in front of the giant barrier made of thorns and weaving branches. "I don't like it."

The kids had already leapt into action. Kristen was calling the group thread to marshal up Riz, Gorgug, and Fabian. Fig had rushed upstairs to throw together a pile of gear, returning with a mishmash of bags and weapons and snacks.
The Court of Stars is not willing to let their Elven Oracle simply walk away. Three weeks after returning from the Nightmare Forest, they make another retrieval attempt. Alone and cut off from her party, Adaine is plunged into a battle of wills as she bides her time for escape

Will releases her hand, even as they walk out of the gym doors together. "Works out for me," he tells her, "I have that project for art I have to finish up anyways." He pauses, hesitates. "Will you be okay without me?"
Max takes a breath, and then gives him a shaky smile, one that doesn't quite reach her eyes. "I'll have your tape," she says, wiggling the wires of her headphones. "See you after school."

Her voice dropped near the end. Will understood her worry and gently pulled Robin back against his shoulder.
“So… when did you two get this close?” Mike suddenly snapped.
Everyone turned to him in surprise.
“Jesus,” Robin muttered, glancing at Will.
Will looked straight at Mike.
“We already talked about this.”
Mike shook his head.
“Yeah, we talked—but this—” he gestured at the two of them, “I didn’t know you were this close.”
Joyce looked at her son and Robin. She knew there was something she didn’t understand yet—but this wasn’t the moment to ask.
“Mike,” Lucas said firmly.
Mike turned to him.
“We need to get to the hospital. This isn’t about Will and Robin being close.”
Mike took a deep breath.
“You’re right. I’m sorry.”

The ride home is nearly silent, as Yusuf does not cry. He fades in and out of wakefulness, his head cradled in Nicolò’s lap, as Andy speeds home…. There is still the lingering worry rising like bile to the back of his throat, and it is a worry that will only be settled once he and Yusuf are back in the safety of their room.
It had been a peaceful time, and perhaps that is why it hits them all so hard. This shouldn’t have happened. There was no need for any of this to happen.
But it had. And all they can do is pick up the pieces and put themselves back together, just as they always have.

Yusuf has been kidnapped. Three terrible weeks separate him and Nicolò, and yet his return is bittersweet when it finally comes. While Nicolò knows their love will connect them once more, it does not negate what has happened. For a while, Booker had dreamed of her every night. After around a hundred years, the dreams became few and far between. Andy had been hoping that the lack of dreams lately meant that perhaps Quynh had been granted mercy. She admitted that she felt sick at the realization that Nile’s dream had made her feel relieved. Quynh lived. She drowned and drowned and drowned, but still she woke from death. Her time had not yet run out.
Andy explained that not everyone experienced that kind of relief, even if it sickened her to feel it. She would not elaborate further. Simply said All things die, Nile and had left it at that.
There had been no mention of a man buried alive, forced to suffocate over and over as he babbled one name like a prayer. Nicolò.
