So, here's the thing. The Fire Nation royal family descended from dragons.
Not in the sense that one of them had scaly tendencies a few million years ago, but in the sense that a dragon saw humans, decided it liked them, and took on the appearance of a human, only to be stuck in that form as punishment from the spirits.
The dragon didn't take it too badly, as he married a princess, had children, and his firstborn rose to power and became Fire Lord.
Zuko, however, had some very good complains to do.
(Where Zuko descended from dragons and has needs, and Sokka is a man on a mission.)

This day can’t get any more shitty.
First, Zanka wakes up late, meaning he has to skip his morning training and maintenance on Lovely Assistaff. Then, he’s sent out on a day-long mission far away from headquarters. AND THEN, while he’s getting ready to leave the, frankly, pathetic clean up job, raiders just had to ambush him and the supporters, effectively splitting them up.
So now here he was, laying on the ground with a split headache and pain shooting down his arm because a certain venomous freak loves to target him for no apparent reason. Great. Lovely. He’s so glad he got up today.

OR, Jabber and Zanka try to play 20 questions to pass the time but it gets a little angsty instead.

“Fuck you..” Zanka rasped barely above a whisper, his body buzzing with emotion he couldn’t quite place.
Jabber looked genuinely surprised, a look of shock abruptly interrupting his face before he began to laugh.
He scurried on all four to Zanka’s side now mere inches from his face. Zanka’s eyes met Jabbers once again. This time with a more pleading look in eyes. They stared at each other for a few beats. Zanka’s breath shook softly, refusing to lose this game of cat and mouse.

That’s why he likes Jabber. Jabber has never once stared too long or said a word about his scars. Why would he? The only thing worth mentioning about his scars from Jabbers perspective is how sad they are. How average they are.
Maybe if Jabber did say something like that, Zanka would have the motivation to go deeper. It’s disappointing how they only make each other worse.

“J?” Zanka knocked on the apartment door, slightly frantic as his mind had managed to wind him into the worst possible outcomes while he had driven.
The only comfort up until now had been that Zanka, being who he was, always thought of the worst scenarios, that wasn’t new — so he could just barely use the ‘you’re just overthinking again’ excuse, even as it rotted to dirt.
No reply came, so with an even harder knock, he called out again. “Jabber!”

He’s never hard by the end of their fights the way Jabber is. He doesn’t get off on pain and exertion and humiliation the way the Raider does. He’s not the one who stays revved and ready to go (Jabber’s words), approaching every battle as his next fix.
No, what gets Zanka off is the momentary shudder of submission that runs down Jabber’s spine when he’s pinned beneath the Cleaner. The way that crazed look in his eyes gets a little more focused, like he’s finally aware that consequences are around the corner.
OR
Zanka fucks Jabber in the rubble of yet another battle of theirs. No matter how hard he tries to make Jabber hate it, he always hates it even more.
