Both seem to seek the company of Legundo for a place of tranquility, but he isn't in the best head space either. Especially when an odd specter keeps reappearing in his dreams, claiming to be the one Owen confided about. The last mayor of Oakhurst, Louis. If Legundo lets his spirit take hold of him, Owen could be calmed, and Avid could be eased into this new life. But there's risk. Could opening the door for one entity let another in without his knowledge? -

Scott Goldsmith was a historian by trade, a king by fate, and a mischievous devil by nature. Ever since he was a little lad, he craved for his own place to call his, unbound by laws or basic human dignity. Mostly because he, as the terrible person he was, knew there was no greater joy than holding immense power over the powerless, and as a wish-to-be king, he only associated with those who could fulfill such desires.

After all, it's not like he's going to become attached.

Summary
The event was getting dull fast. Scott had only decided on attending to get caught up on the latest gossip about the rest of the vampire elite, but everyone was being close lipped.
He's sure it has something to do with Lord Holden's mopey attitude. The man was the one hosting the event, but he looks like he would rather be anywhere else. Scott has no interest in Lord Holden or whatever is causing his bad mood, but his eyes keep straying over to him regardless. Or rather, over to the human trailing behind him.

Summary
A gothic slow-burn where fate takes a very wrong turn and completely derails Avid and Owen’s lives in ways none of them were remotely prepared for.
Scott, naturally, ends up becoming both sire and aggressively protective vampire dad, but even that only helps so much when fledglings are basically needy nocturnal cryptids running on instincts nobody ever bothered explaining.
Meanwhile, the castle inhabitants keep getting more emotionally tangled up with each other, ancient vampire lore starts resurfacing, and the line between affection, loyalty, grief, obsession, and “this is probably unhealthy” becomes increasingly difficult to separate.
Occasionally I will include illustrations as the story progresses.
WARNING: ruined castles, blood-drinking, emotional damage, gothic horror, weird fledgling behavior, codependency, and people making objectively terrible decisions
but also: cuddling, nesting instincts, hurt/comfort, accidental family dynamics, and occasional humor to keep everyone alive emotionally

When Scott, Avid and Abolish are separated by a distance not even their Bonds can cross, the three of them have to learn just how much they're willing to risk for each other, and themselves.
