It was surprisingly hard to keep a vigilante presence off the radar.
Somehow, it was when Tommy was using his identity that could literally turn invisible, that he’d been almost immediately clocked by the heroes. He’d really only been just starting to have a presence when the heroes cornered him about it. Surprisingly, instead of attempting arrest, they’d recruited him. And who was he to say no to free access to the hero database and nice bathrooms?
One power per secret identity, that was his rule, and he still had a couple more up his sleeve. The heroes could have one. As a treat. He was generous like that. He’d just take more care to keep his other identities off the radar.
Simple.
If only things worked out as planned. Somehow, it hadn’t taken long for his next vigilante persona to be noticed as well, though not by heroes this time.
“I hear you talk to ghosts.” Said a deadpan voice.--
Tommy can't help wanting to help, and he keeps getting powers so why not have more than one secret identity, yeah? Hero, vigilante, villain, coffee barista, and maybe one other.
Or I read so, so many vigilante fics that I caved in and stuffed all of my ideas into one fic.

“No, thank you, Satan,” Sister Greta said while climbing up the metal structure.
Buck used his walkie-talkie to communicate with his Captain. “ Cap, she thinks I am Satan,” he chuckled to himself and climbed up the last step.

Carla pulled out two very familiar cases from her purse and handed them over. “Somebody was snooping in your closet.”
Eddie took the cases, automatically handing Buck’s to him. He already knew what it was; didn’t want to open it up like the boxes in his mind he kept the associated memories squared away in. He did anyway, the Silver Star medal shining up at him.
“Why do we keep these in the same place?” Buck lamented, looking at his own Navy Cross.
Eddie snapped the case shut, taking Buck’s from him and doing the same, effectively shutting out the sound of helicopter blades. “I don’t know.”

' Buck, speak of the devil, dropped down the last few feet. Bracing one foot against the rocky cliff and the other against the bumper, he secured his line and glanced up. The moment his eyes met Hondo’s, he faltered, foot slipping slightly against the rock.
“You okay, kid?”
It was impressive, the speed with which Buck recollected himself. Other than a slight downward quirk to his lips as though he had swallowed something sour, there was nothing on his face to tip off discomfort. An odd reaction, as far as he knew Buck had never met this man before. Eddie couldn’t help but furrow his brow. 'Evan "Buck" Buckley doesn't lie to his loved ones. At least, not any more than he needs to. He's made quite the life for himself at the 118 with people he loves and not a care in the world (at least, as far as anybody can tell) about his past before the 118. His past that he has historically been a bit vague about. When a blast from the past appears on a call, he is realizing that he might not have gotten away so scott-free from his past occupation. Cue Eddie noticing. Now, Buck has to navigate the collision between his past and his present.

Eddie had that shit eating grin he got whenever he was being a cheeky bastard, “Last minute change of plans.” He gave a faux nonchalant shrug.
Suddenly Buck’s face fell into a suspicious glare, “You’re not fucking with me, are you? Rocking up to tease me with those abs of yours and then fucking off to your actual station?”
Eddie’s smile turned fond, enough confirmation that this was for real, “No, I’m here for good.”
“Good, I’ll introduce you then.” Eddie followed Buck as he led him back to the small group, “Everyone this is Eddie Diaz, Eddie this is Hen, Bobby and Chimney.”
“I didn’t realise you two knew each other.” Bobby said, analysing the two of them.
Eddie and Buck began to laugh in unison, “Know each other?” Buck said, speaking through the laugh.
“We share a mortgage.” Eddie finished for him.

The 118 are left reeling by his sudden departure with nothing but a stack of letters explaining why he left and unsure whether he'll ever return. They struggle to pick up the pieces left behind with new feelings and realizations dragging themselves out of the woodwork.
Or, Buck leaves L.A. to clear his head and the 118 falls apart.
