Well, Basil couldn’t quite put his feelings for him into words. He knew one thing for sure, though, and it was that he couldn’t wait to watch Sunny and Mari at their upcoming recital. It was only a few days away, after all, and he was more excited than he had ever been.
When the dreams started, though, everything changed. Dreams of a tragedy, and on the night of the recital, no less. A pool of blood at the bottom of the stairs. Bloody handprints soaking into a torn dress. The cold, empty eyes of his friend, lying dead at his feet.
He had to do something to prevent things from coming true… but would it be enough?

When he carries her home for the first time in ten thousand years the first thing he does is run a warm bath, strip her down, hoist her into it like it's the most normal thing in Hyrule to do after all that has happened. And then he climbs in with her and she pushes herself a little closer and puts a hand on his cheek, and he's still trembling. It's been hours, and his body is a withering leaf about to be blown away by the smallest of winds.
Zelda doesn't know what to do then, but she knows she can stay.

He may have come clean, but he had no intention of coming clean to all of Hyrule.
He felt he didn’t owe Hyrule anything.But the question remained, just how much did he owe Zelda?"

“Do…Do you really remember me?” she asks, her voice shaking as she begs, “Please, please say that you do.”
Link stares at her, at this beautiful girl he only remembers in thirteen fragments, and shakes his head. He doesn’t remember that much about himself, but he knows that he’s not a liar. “Not all of you, Princess.”
Something in her face changes, her eyebrows on the verge of furrowing. “Princess?”
Frowning, Link nods. “Princess Zelda. I…I am getting your name right, right?”
Right? He doesn’t remember hearing it that much in his memories but it’s what Rhoam said on the Great Plateau, that his daughter is Princess Zelda and that he had to save her as soon as possible-
“Is it?” she asks. “My…My name is Princess Zelda?”
“What…” he trails off. “What do you mean? You don’t…You don’t know your own name?”
OR
Link finally saves Zelda from Calamity Ganon's clutches, desperate for her to tell him who he is. It turns out she doesn't know him, either.
