Summary
Illuga never learns from his mistakes.
He turns his back in fear. He runs away like a coward. And every time, whoever he leaves behind ends up dead. Which means that when Illuga evacuates Nod Krai and leaves Flins to face the Doctor without him by his side, he must have surely sentenced him to his death, just like all the others Illuga left behind before.
It is only in the wake of that realization, as he deals with his grief, that Illuga finally allows himself his feelings for the other man.

Summary
Faruzan is a highly renowned graduate of Haravatat, though her renown is (unfortunately) mostly with Kshahrewar. She knows many languages, including the language of machines and ancient ruins.
She was also displaced in time by a puzzle inside Deshret’s ruins. A hundred years have passed, so the world is very different.
But Faruzan is different, too. Ever since she freed herself, there’s been a voice in her head. As it becomes clearer, she starts to realize who it belongs to: Thoth, her previous incarnation in a former samsara cycle.

“I don’t need to know what you are,” Illuga says. “Just give me something. Something to cling to the next time you run headfirst into danger alone.”
Flins sees the ghosts behind those pleading eyes, the shadows he tries to bathe in light, to pretend his lantern could drown them out rather than push them further into the corners of his mind. And he knows the stories, knows the haunted past that Illuga doesn’t like to talk about, the reason Flins’ answer matters.
He settles on a simple, yet vague truth.
“I am… not so easily killed,” he admits.
“If you’re lying to me,” Illuga says. “I will summon you from the grave and kill you myself.”

“Yeah?” Illuga grunts, fingers clutching Flins’s shoulders with a vice grip, gasping softly as Flins rolled his hips up, pressing against his crotch. “That—much is obvious.”
“Would you offer your assistance, Young Master?” Flins purrs against Illuga’s ear, tongue darting out to lick his earlobe before nipping his ear—his teeth were so close to Illuga’s earring, he could just rip it out cleanly and—
“Frankly, it’d be a bit concerning if I didn’t.” Illuga huffs, shuddering as Flins licked a broad stripe over his neck. “We—we’re already in such a position, how do you expect me to refuse?!”
Flins has lived a long, long time. Much of his time was spent guiding others, then lighting up the way to lead those astray back to shore. Yet nature was not something that found itself bogged down by the concept of duty.

Flins has to go on a trip for a couple of weeks to recuperate his energy after saving Nod-Krai twice from disaster. He entrusts his lamp to Illuga for safekeeping, but the young captain of the Nightmare Orioles soon discovers there's more to Flins' lantern than meets the eye.

Summary
"My," Flins says, mouth curling upwards, a play at a jesting smile, mirthless despite his internal amusement at the sight of this boy. Such a forward little thing. "I'm honored to hear that I'm such a discussed individual, truly, their gossip paints me as a more interesting individual than I am, in truth."
There's something like a bite of laughter that escapes the boy, hidden and cut off aside from the upward twitch to his mouth. "Is that so?" Illuga questions, not unkind, but not cowing, as he lets his gaze drift from Flins' person to instead drag it along the lighthouse that Flins claims as his abode. "Yet, did you not yourself admit to having few visitors out so far? That seems to be quite solitary, no?"
"You say such as if not every Lightkeeper has their eccentricities." Flins returns, smooth and easy, an interest piquing at the way Illuga's expression shifts into something a little warmer at the mention of the organization. "Indeed," he continues, a teasing bite to his words, "Are you not out at such a late time due to your own eccentricities? After all, I see no reports in your hands."

Flins’ gaze had become quite weird at that point. It made something electric run through him.
“Like what?” Flins asked again.
“Like you’re stringing me along.”
