Untouched my a parasite like him. They don't know him. He knows them. It must stay that way, he believes, if he wants to protect them. Save them from the atrocity known as Ivan.
What Ivan doesn't know is just how much he's loved. How sought out he is. How much they all admire him. How much they want to know him. What he doesn't know is that he's more than just a parasite. He never was to begin with.
