Summary
Sirius Black had a habit of breaking rules. A simple hint of an attempt to control him provoked him to action. But even the most avid of troublemakers was guided by principles. Under no circumstances did Sirius allow himself to stop taking suppressants, to shag an Omega or to get close enough to one to become affected. These were the three pillars of his common sense, the only rules he could not break.
Severus Snape, on the other hand, had lots of rules. He adored them, catalogued each one in his confused mind, trying desperately to distract himself from the rest of his life, so fragile and uncontrollable. He wasn’t allowed to look back, to doubt his choices, to look for alternative solutions. And, most of all, he was to avoid remembering, digging in his past, and dreaming about the future. He knew exactly what he wasn’t supposed to do and it was all that kept his world from crumbling.
Sadly for the both of them, life rarely goes according to plan. Sometimes, a fair scent drives people to crazy deeds. Sometimes, you try to drown a man and fail miserably. Sometimes, it leads to the shared detention and reconsidering of all the bloody rules.

Summary
Pagol ended up naming his newest centaur Mikathon. Mik--Mikky if he was feeling playful--for short.
He decided to take a different approach to his training, rather than giving him the usual work load that the other centaurs got. Mik was young and still had a lot of growing to do, and Pagol didn’t want to stunt him by hooking him up to a plow too quickly.
So Mik spent most of his days in the barn, gagged with the usual bridle and bit. Pagol had set up a special framework just for him.
A couple swats of a birch switch the the backs of his front legs was enough to get Mik to rear up, balancing on his hind legs until he figured out how Pagol wanted him positioned. A swinging pull-up bar was dangled in front of him, and it only took Mik a couple tries before he hooked his front legs over it, and was finally able to remain upright.

He hated Sirius Black. Hated his arrogance, his easy confidence, the way he strutted through the halls of Hogwarts as if he owned them. But something in the alpha’s expression right now—something fierce and protective—made it hard to look away. Despite himself, Severus felt a flicker of warmth in his chest, a part of him almost pleased by the way Sirius was reacting. But he quickly squashed it down.

Why would he? FAE 200 was barely a gen ed in his course schedule, which meant easy tests and even easier homework. He planned on sitting in the back of the huge lecture hall, blending in with the hundreds of other students, and getting an easy A.
The professor looked like a pushover too--tall, even for an elf, and thin. His robes were stuffy and academic, covering him from his neck down to his ankles, and he glided along with an in-human grace, barely even bobbing with each step. His long, pointed ears extended over the top of his head, his straight silver hair falling on either side, and they twitched in irritation as he settled in front of the desk at the front of the lecture hall and turned to observe the clamoring crowd of students.
