Summary
“Come to NYU,” he says. Mouth moving before he really knows what he’s saying, what he’s offering. Thinking not about Mom, or Mike, or the ghosts of this town, but of himself, and what he wants. “With me. You and Lucas. Let’s all go. I’m sick of Hawkins.”

madwise and their boyfriend lucas.... Fawk yes
You’re the heart of the party. Will had told Mike that, once. But Will is also a zombie, and zombies have no need of hearts. He thinks, belatedly, that he very well might have everything he needs right here.

Summary
In a desperate, last-ditch flail of an effort to salvage the situation, Mike grabbed Will’s arm.
The silence veered from heavy to charged. All of Mike’s attention surged into his hand. He felt like the entirety of his consciousness was suddenly located in the place where his skin touched Will’s.
What the fuck, thought Mike for the second time in ten minutes.
Or,
After first using his powers, Will falls unconscious—and stays that way. Refusing to leave Will's side, Mike reflects on the last year and a half while he waits for Will to wake up.aka mikewhatthefuckdidyoudogate, FEATURING: wound cleaning, bed sharing, disco, Jealous!Mike, queer literary analysis, & the most horrifying eldritch specter of all (gay panic). really great concept for s5! this is the avalanche i was hoping for!
It had always been hard to look away from Will, especially when it was so easy for him to disappear.
But ever since that day, when he pictures his future, he sees Will looking up at a skyscraper, Will dodging between clusters of people on a busy sidewalk, Will drinking coffee out of a styrofoam cup, Will lit up by neon, Will eating a bagel, Will framed by well-kept trees growing out of concrete. Mike hasn’t been to New York before, so he doesn’t know if his imagination is accurate. The important thing is that Will is there.
“I really don’t want my idiocy to ruin your life,” he says into Will’s ear, like it’s a secret, like they aren’t the only people down here.
He looks at Will and feels his pulse beating under his thumb. Or maybe that’s his own heartbeat. Sometimes it’s hard to tell.

Summary
"It's your house," he muttered. "It only seems right you should get to use it, once in a while. And it's been years since you took a vacation, and you were attacked by a psychopath lately, so you could probably use a break. But it's," he shifted in his chair, "probably it's not really your idea of a vacation, having to spend it with me and a, a pack of strays."
"On the contrary," Hannibal said, anticipation unfurling warm and bubbly in his chest, "that sounds like a wonderful time."

Bookmarker's Notes
I think about this part all the time:
"'It's a habit, that's all,' Will said. 'It's like always buying the same brand of toothpaste or always putting your car keys in your right pocket instead of your left. When you have an afternoon to yourself, you don't think, oh, I'll pick up the phone and call a friend to see if they want to come over, go to a movie, do something. Instead you compose some music or read a book or try a new recipe because that's what you've always done. Something hasn't come along to jostle that habit. Not yet.'Hannibal had to take a moment before he could reply. 'Surely the moratorium on psychoanalysis applies to you as well as me.'
'That's not psychoanalysis,' Will said. 'That's empathy.'"

Summary
“Dustin?” he manages, when he finally catches his breath. It’s all he can think to say. Not what are you doing here? Not how did you know where to find me? Not why did you just crash your own car into a lamppost?
It’s not like Dustin was ever the answerable kind of question.
Dustin spits some blood to his left and breaks out into an uneasy smile. He limps forward, leaning on Will’s shoulder. His breath comes out in hasty wheezes. “Been driving three days straight,” he says, like that explains it. “Can I sleep in your bed?”
Then he faints into Will’s arms.
It’s the fall of 1994. Will starts a new life in San Francisco under a pseudonym, seeking refuge from his past. Dustin works for the feds, clearing up the last ghostly traces of the Upside Down.
Until the details of a strange new case force him to bring Will in under investigation.

this is lowkey an all time fave for me already Yippie my awesome sugoi life
"Look— it’s not that he likes hiding. He’d rather he didn’t have to. He just hates making a fuss. Having to talk about it. More comfortable to never say, to live in implications, to dance around the subject. Safe and free at once. No emotional parked-car conversations, no high school melodrama, no fucking monologues. No need to expend the energy. His friends have been trying to beat the instinct out of him, but it’s different in San Francisco. You can take the boy out of Indiana, but…"
They're just so sweet and darling.... "There’s a quiet moment where everyone else is occupied. Dustin pulls Will into the shadows by the edge of the forest. Doesn’t say anything, doesn’t look into his eyes, just takes Will’s wrist in his hand and squeezes. Then does it again. It takes Will a second to recognize the rhythm.
Short, long, short, short. Long, long, long. Short, short, short, long. Short. Long, short, long, long. Long, long, long. Short, short, long.
L-O-V-E-Y-O-U."

Finally, she’s able to get the number in right. The ring is sharp against her ear. Pick the fuck up, she thinks, and someone must be listening, because the ringing stops.
“All right, Harrington, what’s on this week’s nightmare menu? And don’t tell me the one about drowning in your pool again, man, we all know that’s rich kid—”
“It’s Nancy.”
A long pause, then a laugh. “Wheeler? To what do I owe this late-night honor?”
“I, um.” Nancy’s tongue feels stuck to the inside of her mouth, like bare skin on upholstery. “I was wondering if you’ve got a couch I can crash on?”
Nancy finds herself in Olympia, Washington on the eve of the Riot Grrrl movement.

Summary
Jess takes a final drag and maybe she performs a little, because she wants to see what’ll happen: maybe she licks her lips before, maybe she leans so the jut of her collarbone stands out underneath her shirt, maybe she makes a point to catch García’s eye when she inhales, when the smoke pulls into her chest, when she hitches her breath to keep it there.
Because García is watching, she has Jess pinned with her eyes, and this is probably a goddamn catastrophe of an idea (come on, don’t shit where you eat, McCready) but something about it feels alive to Jess, feels jittery and itchy like the buzz of a radio, like a snakebite under her skin. It feels right when the whole fucking day has felt wrong.

“So,” Mom says one weekend afternoon as she and Robin stare down the Sunday Times crossword, huddled together on the porch swing, “you and Steve Harrington sure have been living in each other’s pockets lately.” She puts down the pen and gives Robin a carefully-probing smile disguised as a teasing one. “Anything you wanna tell me?”
Yeah; I’m gay, Robin thinks. Her throat constricts painfully. “I—you’d know if I were dating someone,” she says instead.

Summary
Seeing him here, in New York, surrounded by the deep browns and golds of Hobart and Blackwell, is so alien to me I have to repress the urge to pinch myself like a child would after a dream. It looks incorrect, him standing here. Like someone has taken a pair of scissors to my memories of him, cut him out of his rightful place on the abandoned playground, and pasted him sloppily into a corner of my life where he doesn’t belong. Has it only been a few weeks? It feels like ages longer, like it’s been a decade, like we’re different people trying to see what exactly we liked about each other so much way back when.
But then he says it again- “Potter.”- and that feeling vanishes as quickly as it arrived.
“You came,” I say dumbly.
He gives a cheery smirk that I don’t believe. “Promised I would.”

The past is nothing to him, an obstacle, something to weigh you down- the way I want it to. I want the past to devour me, drag me down into its muddy depths and never let me go. I refuse to have faith, as he does, in the future. Because she is not there.

Summary
It's Matteo's first year of college, but he'd rather smoke weed in his dorm room all day than drag himself to class. He tries to sign up for what he thinks will be an easy arts elective and ends in a serious acting workshop. Here he sees the Boy he's been admiring from afar all over campus: David, who's directing the end-of-quarter production of Hamlet.
David thinks Matteo's a slacker who's gonna ruin the production he's worked so hard on. Matteo thinks David's just another pretentious artist-wannabe who thinks he's better than him.
And yet somehow, their faces keep ending up at such a kissable distance.
(Or, a hate-to-love College AU in which there's not so much "hate" as misunderstanding, presumption, and a whole lot of sexual tension).
