A voice called out to her, and she called back, saying that she needed five more seconds.
From the way she held her stance to the slight puff in her cheeks as she furrowed her brows, it was all too familiar. Eventually, she picked out a plain sugar cookie with a pink bow made of frosting. The cookie was as simple as it sounds.
As she turned around, that girl couldn’t stop reminding Schroeder of someone. Just as she left the shop, he glanced at her blue eyes with the same expression he had seen years prior.
No.
Oh no.
It can’t be.
His heart dropped as he realized who he had just seen.
He gave one more glance at Lucy van Pelt’s daughter as the door shut behind her. It closed with a soft thud and a ring.
OR
After 8 years have passed, Schroeder makes a visit home, only to find that some things have changed about Lucy.

Nancy stared at her appearance in the mirror right in front of her. Her reflection stared right back at her. She could feel the burning in her eyes.
As usual, the bathroom was messy, which was the result of sharing a bathroom with two other people. Her parents had their restroom, but it didn’t mean it was nicer.
Nancy ran her hair through her greasy curls and poked at her smudged makeup as she thought of what had just happened—how her entire life had turned around over one singular event.
She thought the Upside Down was the worst thing to have ever happened but somehow it was topped off with the disappearance of two people she needed.

Ted and Karen Wheeler die in the summer of '85 and now Nancy has to navigate taking care of her siblings (and their complex feelings). -

“I’ll fix that later,” Phoebe whispered as she sat down. At first, she eyed the pasta while Trevor tried to conceal his wide grin.
“I made something different today,” he said. “That’s why I needed to go to the store, for the meat. I thought it would be nice to eat something that isn’t burnt noodles for once.”
“I’m not sure how you would burn noodles in the first place,” Phoebe quipped, poking at the food with her fork. Trevor knew she meant it, she never joked around like he does, but he tried to ignore her comment.or
Callie tries her best as a single parent working two jobs. Trevor tries to cook dinner for his family. One works well and the other, not so much.
