Summary
The cutting of the Gordian Knot is an Ancient Greek legend associated with Alexander the Great in Gordium in Phrygia, regarding a complex knot that tied an oxcart. Reputedly, whoever could untie it would be destined to rule all of Asia. In 333 BC, Alexander was challenged to untie the knot. Instead of untangling it laboriously as expected, he dramatically cut through it with his sword. This is used as a metaphor for using brute force to solve a seemingly-intractable problem.

Each Izuku is a complete, independent person with the same memories, the same body, the same will to live. And each can split again, as one turns to two, then four, then eight, and so on.
In theory, there could be infinite Midoriyas. A verifiable army of the exact same person. When one dies, his memories flood into the nearest survivor. It would have been endless—an uncountable tree of Midoriyas branching across the world.
In practice, the universe seems to hate that idea. The moment more than two exist, reality bends to correct the imbalance—accidents pile up, probability breaks, and one by one they die until only two remain.
Every time, an Izuku remembers each death like he lived through it.
Despite this, each iteration of Midoriya Izuku wants to be a hero.
