Summary
Kaveh was doing his best not to catastrophize. He just needed to trust Lesser Lord Kusanali, and he would be back to his world within the week. This universe was an oddity to him, no matter how much it was like his own. And it unsettled him to have Alhaitham act so differently towards him from what he was used to. He seemed more unsure than Kaveh about what he should be doing. But Kaveh didn’t comment on it, and neither did Alhaitham. Even though he could tell that there were times when Alhaitham had to stop himself from touching him. Kaveh wondered how affectionate they were in this universe. He hadn’t ever thought that Alhaitham would be that affectionate, but the aborted movements spoke louder than words.
It was as he was waiting while Alhaitham made lunch that he noticed the band on his finger. He touched it, turning it on his finger and examining it. The longer it was under his touch, the more real it felt. Even though this entire experience felt like anything but.
“We’re married?” The words came out before he could stop them.
Kaveh wakes up in a universe where he and Alhaitham are married.

Then the ley line explodes, and he finds himself in his seventeen-year-old body, dealing with five years of stress and surrounded by people who don't understand why the boy who doted on Kaeya at every turn suddenly hates him. And when he finally loses it, he's sent away from the estate - on his own, ashamed, shut out - just like Kaeya was, and everything Diluc has thought about Kaeya for the past five years is suddenly cast in a new light.

Alhaitham is living the life he has always wanted, but a creeping sense of loneliness takes over his mind. He adopts a cat, and schedules a vet appointment with his ex-best friend:
To his own surprise, the sides of his eyes prickled with the threat of tears, and he found himself unsure of what to do. He did not want to be seen in such vulnerability, but his apartment was as empty as it always was, and so, why the irrational urge to hold the crying back? “Crying is a natural mechanism for releasing stress-related hormones,” he had told Kaveh years before. “Why are you resisting? Cry. There is no rational reason why you should be embarrassed.”
How stupid he had been. Even with no audience, the thought of letting his sadness overflow from his head onto the physical realm seemed daunting, and he simultaneously tried to prevent the flow of tears while letting them happen. A broken, choked sound escaped his throat, and it took him a moment to realise it was his own sob. It sounded foreign to his ears, but they kept escaping his tightly shut lips, until he found himself too exhausted to fight the instinct.

Alhaitham was already halfway to the door. "Because none of you would understand it."
Kaveh is a cosplayer; in other words, a modern-day Prince Charming in a world where chivalry is dead, as quoted from Cyno.
All artists know that art, in any form, comes from a fundamental basis of inspiration. He's a very big fan of the anonymous comic book author known by the pseudonym “Sage". He doesn't make much of an effort to hide this fact.
The only issue is this: he also has no idea that "Sage" lives in the same apartment, one door down.
