Summary
Masaru is at work when her world begins to splinter open, like a crack in the sidewalk, a fault line that divides her entire life in two. The news reporters air the footage over the course of the day, the live broadcast feed filled with the sounds of destruction.
The cameras had only shown it for a split second, their aerial footage sweeping across the scene of battle. The news feed prattles on, trying to report on the indistinct bodies that shoot across the screen like an incoherent montage of the war waging just a few feet away.
But Mitsuki spots him the second he takes that blow, the shot that lingered on him right after he went down before cutting away. There is no sound of the way his body had been pierced, she wouldn’t have heard it even if there was.
Or, Mitsuki learning to put together the pieces of her son's life, from the beginning all the way to the very end.

He pictured himself running ahead, with Izuku flying ahead of him to get a better head start, and he would grin, yell out his name, and run after him. But when he finally caught up, he turned around, and Izuku was there. But he wasn't running after Katsuki anymore. He was walking off towards a different direction, to what he loved, to whom he loved, to what made him happy.
Katsuki is the best man at Izuku's wedding. He's accepting it harder than everyone else.

“Bakugou,” Present Mic says, and there’s something in his voice that makes Katsuki feel very small, “that’s not the point.”

Golden couple Izuku and Katsuki appear on live TV and an interviewer rather innocently brings up a paparazzi photo of Izuku in Spain, asking how he enjoyed the sun and if Katsuki came along too. But Izuku never mentioned this trip to Katsuki, he said he was going to visit David and Melissa in America. And, well, things fall apart from there. Given Izuku’s strangely distant behavior lately, Katsuki is left to put two and two together on stage, in the middle of a live interview.
Or, Katsuki finds out in the worst way possible, and copes with a very public betrayal.

Ochako sighs. “Go grab a bottle of wine for dinner, please.”
“Don’t tell me what to do,” Katsuki grumbles, as he makes his way to the wine rack he knows Izuku keeps in the store room.
Kousuke, since Katsuki had gone to check on the goings-on in the kitchen, had resorted to setting up block towers to knock them down in the most violent way he’d seen any preschooler handle solid wood.
“Die!” Kousuke screeches, giggling as his flared hand smacks straight through the centre of a large wall he’d built, scattering blocks across the vinyl flooring. Katsuki raises a fist in solidarity and nods at a beaming Kousuke as he slides past.
“Gentle, honey,” Ochako calls tiredly over the thundering of strained noodle water.
“Don’t tell me what to do,” Kousuke singsongs under his breath, gingerly picking up his fallen blocks and kissing each piece tenderly as he meticulously reconstructs his barricade.
Katsuki’s genuinely surprised Izuku hasn’t strung him up by the testicles yet.
“Oh! Kacchan!”
Huh. Speak of the devil.

When a villain with a mysterious quirk triggers an all heroes present level of emergency, burnt-out teacher Izuku Midoriya has to report to the scene. There's a very clear warning on the message to not, by any means, engage in physical combat with the villain. That's fine, Izuku had dealt with villains with a deathtouch before, nothing new about that. What he hadn't been counting on dealing with was an angered Katsuki Bakugo, who had given him the silent treatment for the past two weeks. Two weeks! Two weeks since their high school reunion, two weeks since he'd decided to reconnect with old friends, and barely over two weeks since he'd begun using his new suit. Two weeks of absolutely no contact with Katsuki. Could another impossible villain fight be what finally brings them closure? Or is what is broken between them far beyond repair?
Maybe the answer isn't in this universe at all...
