Excerpt:
Loki remembered the last time he'd seen his Mobius. He remembered the long hug, how safe and loved he felt. 'You're my favorite.'
"Can I sit?" Loki asked.
"Sure. Take a seat. I can get you some fresh clothes." But he didn't leave. He put his hands on his hips. "You're off your timeline, aren't you? You're not from here."
Loki slumped heavily onto a brown couch. He let out a breath. "No."
"What's your name?"
"Loki. Loki Laufeyson," he looked for any glimmer of recognition, but it wasn't there. He wondered at a universe without a Loki.
He could tell Mobius was thinking. Finally, he said, "In another timeline, my variant and you knew each other?"
"Yes." Loki hated the naked despair he heard in his own voice. He felt weak and small. "He was my friend."
