The problem is: he doesn't know what he wants. That is until a handsome devil appears on their journey to rid themselves of their tadpoles and Astarion experiences true attraction for maybe the first time in his life. But he also doesn't know how to deal with that. And when Astarion begins to think that maybe he'd like a little more power before confronting Cazador, he considers finding himself a patron. And Raphael has already proven himself to be helpful. And Astarion likes looking at his face. What could possibly go wrong?

Summary
In the beginning...Phaera Duskryn was a slightly unhinged paladin drow out on the surface for the first time. Astarion smelled blood, figuratively and literally. Much to both of their surprise, a little fling became a thing became...well, Phaera's a vampire now. And although she is an absolute and ambitious menace in the streets, she's a good little girl between the sheets.
Just remember: vampires are chaotic evil. Astarion, and Phaera, are NOT GOOD PEOPLE. And we love them for that.

“I just turned eleven, sir,” she said in a small little voice.“Eleven!” said Cazador in an exaggerated tone, bouncing his leg so she jiggled on his knee. Astarion could hear her little heart racing. “How time does fly. Almost a lady now.”
He looked at Astarion and smiled. “I think our little Lady Vic is old enough to attend a proper ball, don’t you think, Astarion?”
“If it please you, my Master,” he said hollowly. That was always the safest option, when you had nothing else to say.
“Not too late though,” he said indulgently. “But when you’re grown up, you can stay up the whole night.”
He put his arm around her so it settled on her hip, then he patted it warmly, like he was her kindly old grandfather.
But he wasn’t, Astarion screamed inside his own head.
Cazador seemed to be thinking, and affectionately bopped her on the nose.
“Thirteen is quite grown up, don’t you think, little Lady Vic?”

One illithid abduction later, and he's walking in the sun with a sorceress and her band of infected misfits, away from Baldur's Gate and two centuries of pain. It was the rarest of opportunities, and he fully intended to use his skills to wrap Tav around his finger to protect himself. To survive while the world came apart at the tadpole-infected seams.
It was in the calm moments, the quiet of the camp, that Astarion began to grasp what exactly it meant when someone unselfishly cared for him. Tav didn't just want him to touch her and tell her sweet things. She wanted him to be free, be whole, be healed- and she would shed blood and magic to those ends.
It feels like hopeful dream- until their centuries of life before one another collide with their present, stringing along a cast of monsters, devils, and traitors who would turn it all into a nightmare.

Astarion's swirling thoughts were interrupted abruptly as they passed through a gate; they had moved into a shadier part of the market and his escort's grip had tightened less-than-protectively on his arm. Shit.

The time has finally come for Astarion and Petra to head to the vampire colony in the Underdark to visit with his siblings and, while Astarion hadn't expected an enjoyable trip, he hadn't expected things to go quite as badly as they do.
A story of a broken and twisted family told through flashbacks and a perilous family visit that quickly goes wrong.

Summary
It was the smallest he had ever looked to Astarion, but there was no comfort to be found in it. Astarion thought he had seen every twisted mask that face was capable of – from sadistic pleasure to bored detachment and everything in between – but he was wrong. The icy hatred in Cazador’s eyes was a novelty that chilled Astarion to his core, and he knew his master would not rest until he made his creation regret the day it stepped out of line.
Astarion and his companions prevented Cazador from completing the Ascension, but his former master escaped before they could strike a killing blow. Now, in the wake of the Absolute's defeat, Astarion has no choice but to wait and see what form Cazador's revenge might take.
