Never felt gladder that he’d gone to the effort of that evening shave and a proper washup in the guest room he'd been led towards. As if there had been an option when there were that many rose petals somewhat purposely left floating in that jug and bowl, a shaving kit, and several rolled, wet, steaming, and scented towels packed with freshly cut, now partially cooked and soggy lavender. . . .their limbs work on hydraulic principles and operate under pressure, which is why they splurt like a popped water balloon when they get hit in those Marine camera feeds we saw. A slight wound to a limb takes them right the hell out of commission, and now your troops have to deal with an insanely aggressive and stupid xenomorphic K-9 unit that oh by the way IS BLEEDING ACID.

Summary
After the war, the boys came home. The need for girls was up, and Lizzie and the girls were available. But… the boys who’d shipped off to France and the clients they were getting now, they were different. Some, broken beyond repair. More than anything, they were unstable. A fellow could seem to be keeping his head, but the moment someone kicked a chair over, the sound would send him right back, and he’d have her by the throat, eyes unseeing.
Tommy Shelby though, she could relax with him. After the first few times he’d been up with her, she hadn’t heard him say more than three words. He came in, cap down, might point to where he wanted it done, got to it, got it over, paid her proper. All in near complete silence. The only thing he does is clutch her waist, elbow, wrist, for dear life, towards the end. He never hurts her, and he always lets go after. It’s once she trusts him that she has the idea to ask him a favor. Of course she knows who he is, what his family does. She knows he could spare a man. The most he’ll do is say ‘no’. He might never come back, but that’s a risk she can afford to take.
