“HELLO PARTY–people?” Hizashi was as loud as ever, bursting into their first hero course teacher meeting of the year, where Shouta’s addition to the staff had just been announced. They locked eyes instantly, and all Shouta could think was, when did he grow that god-awful mustache? When had he grown out his hair? It was long enough that it would have reached his waist if it were down, and that was… not god-awful at all. Seven years had treated him well.
“Eraserhead?” Hizashi broke the silence.
“Mic.” He nodded. And just like that, they were ripped right out of first-name basis and thrown into the soulless pit of hero names. It was for the best. They hadn’t ended things on the best of terms, anyway.

The blue-haired boy pauses, studies his hand uncertainly before shrugging. “Shirakumo Oboro,” he introduces in return, hand phasing right through Izuku’s when he goes to return the handshake. Shirakumo doesn’t seem surprised by it, but Izuku whips his hand back when the intense chill climbs up his arm.

Everyone expects the arguments—the sharp words and need for space. The inevitable return that begins with soft footsteps and uncertain glances. But no one ever seems to mention that forgiveness doesn't always begin with an apology.
Sometimes it looks like dinner on the stove and a table set for two.
