The entire Byers family are the best people he's ever met. Joyce is so warm and kind, yet so strong. Will is kind, he has a calmness and quiet snark to him that's easy to overlook but hard to forget. And Jonathan is just chill, he observes and comes to his own conclusions that are usually so correct that it's freaky, but he's still open to changes to his opinions.
And well, there are freaky things happening around them, he still remembers that night in November. There's also the Police Chief hanging around them along with a weird, unusually dumb but knowledgeable girl who seems to know exactly what you're thinking.
Of course if you hang around them, you're forced to hang with the kiddie squad and their mother hen. And said mother hen's ex.
It was fucking crazy, but what else could he do?
It was better than the cold house he called home.

Summary
There’s a migraine inducing crash as a plate slams against Harrington’s head. He stumbles- they both do. Billy grins, licking the blood from his mouth. Then Harrington’s up and rushing and suddenly they’re tumbling sideways. Billy’s got one hand around the other boy’s shoulders, the other desperately grasping at the counter and then the refrigerator next to them. His lower back takes the brunt of the fall, Harrington’s weight knocking the wind out of him.
Then there’s cold- both from the fridge door opening and the cool air seeping out and across the linoleum, and from Harrington’s frenzied scramble off of Billy and towards it.
There’s a wet slopping sound, then several more of them as Billy realizes Harrington is forcefully shoving whatever the fuck plopped out of the fridge back in its place.

The redhead moves closer to Hargrove, kneeling on some of Will’s drawings. He groans softly, like he can sense her approaching, and one of his hands flinches. By the pathetic sound he makes, Steve thinks the jerk isn’t in attack mode any more; he might actually be trying to get away from her.
“You’re okay, dipshit,” Max sighs before turning to the police chief. “He will be okay, right?”
“Should be,” Hopper replies, though by the way his mouth twitches nobody really buys it.
“Maybe Hargrove should go to the hospital too,” Dustin offers, his brows knitting together. “He kind of got punched a few times, and that tranquilizer was meant for Will. But, like, possessed Will.”
“Your choice, kid.”
Max turns towards Hopper, confused.
“What do you mean?”
—This is an AU which starts at the end of s2 and tries to fill in some of the gaps. This is also my attempt at having Hopper and Joyce more or less adopt Max and Billy. The usual background pairings apply, but this is mainly a Harringrove story with implied Byler.

Summary
As if being the designated babysitter wasn't enough, Steve finds himself accidentally becoming the group's designated birthday baker. Not that he minds - he likes to feel needed, plus it's a good distraction from the nightmares that have plagued him since that fateful night at the mall.
He does mind, however, the fact that Billy Hargrove seems to be weaving his way into the group. He's apparently had a personality transplant since the Mind Flayer nearly tore him apart, or so the story goes, but Steve isn't duped. It's fine, though, he can carry on ignoring the guy and ignoring the way his face still tingles with the ghost of Billy's fists.
But then, get this.
Steve has to bake Billy a birthday cake, too.

Steve blinks at her bemusedly, and then she points out beyond the pool- where Eddie Munson sits in the grass, smiling lazily as El and little Holly Wheeler adorn him in daisy chains, giggling as he bows to each of them, adjusting his flowery crown.
Steve groans, face in his palms.
“Yeah,” he laughs dryly, “if only Eddie was a chick, huh?”

Summary
He didn’t know much but he did understand there was a strain between Dennis and his family. He gathered they didn’t approve of him being a doctor and being away. But Dennis didn’t speak much of them, even now, only a couple miles out from the farmhouse he grew up in. Even now, after they drove nearly twenty hours straight, with nothing but air and bad music between them.

Dennis’s dad is sick. Robby is on a two week leave for what his therapist calls a “mental health emergency.” Robby can’t be alone and Dennis doesn’t have gas money. They drive to Nebraska together.

Robby shook his head at that and shifted the baby to one arm, and with his other hand, shrugged off his own jacket before saying.
“Borrow this Whitaker, just return it to me at the end of the day, and if you get anything on it, don't worry, I’ll wash it.”
Dennis hesitated before nodding and pulling it on and having to roll the sleeves up once so he would be hindered by the extra fabric that seemed to hang off his body.
“Thank you, Dr. Robby,” he said, smiling at the fact that the older man seemed to care so much for him as well as the fact that he wouldn't have to sit around and bitch about the cold much longer.
