It's 4:47 am, and there's shuffling coming from the living room. It's 4:48 am, and Franziska von Karma suddenly goes still; the door to the kitchen creaks as it opens, and in peeks Maya Fey. Maya Fey, squinting at the light and a bit disheveled, but surely awake as she looks at Franziska.
"Hi."
"Maya Fey." She answers, blinking at the girl in the door. Her hand goes still, where it just has been mixing the ingredients together; her mind feels weirdly blank as she meets the grey, tired eyes. "Did I… wake you?"
Maya snorts, shaking her head.
"Nah, don't worry about it- Force of habit, I guess."

Or: Maya Fey is staying over at Franziska's apartment for the night. Franziska doesn't mind that at all, and has no weird feelings related to it. The fact that she's up before 4 am baking chocolate cookies is absolutely unrelated to that, of course.
She... wasn't expecting Maya to be a morning bird too, though.

The weight of today sits on her shoulders, but it blends in too well with the way the bed pulls her down into its softness. The memory foam pond shifts beneath her as Junie dips in. She shifts to just relax, not sleep. With a voice more gentle than down feathers, she speaks to Athena lovingly."

He is meant to serve as Dream’s soldier boy, loyal as a hound, blood-bound until the master falls — and perhaps even beyond the grave. He is meant to fade into some tired little ending, a boy-shaped shadow lowered nameless into a coffin draped in withered garlands. He is meant to tick down, second by second, toward silence.
Instead, he stands here, his heart cupped in warm, gentle hands. A heart pink and small and cherished, cradled as though it were something precious. Loved. And the story does not begin with a coronation or a kiss beneath moonlight, no. It begins with blood on the floor of a warehouse.
That, at the very least, is normal.
Or: Every other Age Reveal Fic but with a ridiculous amount of cosmic imagery and italics.
