“I’m not drunk, you know.”
Well, he’s not wrong. Connor isn’t drunk in the typical sense, but rather experiencing an adjacent state close enough to be imprecisely considered the same. The tells are all in what can be interpreted to be his ‘physiological’ signs: the whirr of cooling fans in his system perceptible in their new intensity, the faint blush of blue on his face, his rather adorable half-lidded eyes that inhumanly snap to full attention again when he notices you looking at him to remind you that he’s playing at being drunk.
“Semantics,” you say, turning your head to brush your lips by his cheek. It makes him smile. Lazily, Connor inches his head closer to your mouth in open invitation. You take it while his hand closes the front door behind you, all the while guiding your feet towards the bedroom. “But I’ll bite. If you’re not drunk, then what did they put in there, and what did it do to you?”
