First Officer Spock of the USS Enterprise is part of the away team that discovers the survivors of Tarsus IV. Captain Pike assigns him to the curious case of James Tiberius Kirk, who steals one of Spock's sweaters. There were no sufficient Vulcan poetics to describe the emptiness of the colony as it was found on the morning of stardate 2249.43. The fully-completed residential sector was neither ugly nor beautiful but simply remote; a hollow landscape of metal alloys and sensible architecture, with determined vegetation growing alongside the support beams. They did not flower.

The Medusans possess navigation technology beyond the Federation's wildest dreams. Literally. But nonetheless Starfleet wants to make those dreams a reality, risk of going insane in the pursuit be damned. Which means that Captain Kirk and his crew are tasked with ferrying a trio on their way to the Medusan homeworld where a telepathic bonding between a Medusan and a human will help facilitate an expansion of the Federation navigation tech. Summary
Castiel is the priest and holy man of the small settlement of New Haven. It is his job to shepherd the faithful and to help protect their settlement from the demons that constantly threaten them. When Dean Winchester arrives at their town with weapons in his car and lies on his tongue, it is obvious that he is just another demon. And there is only one fate for demons: a ritual execution.
But Castiel thinks he has a better idea. He knows of a ritual from his late father that was said to be able to purify a demon. The ritual requires both parties to descend into the depths of Hell before the tormented soul can be gripped tight and raised from Perdition. Castiel knows the risks: his own father died from attempting the ritual. Completing the ritual will require both Dean and Castiel to purge themselves of all sins as they push themselves to the limits of their endurance... and possibly their lives.
Castiel should listen to the voices of caution telling him to simply allow Dean to be executed. But something about Dean makes Castiel feel as though he might be worth the risk.
