On screen, Kim Dokja looks at the floating countdown. I didn't get to die today and suddenly I'm in TWSA. In a cabin which story was never told in the novel. The novel that ended today, but never truly reached the end. I want to read, Kim Dokja thinks feverishly. I want to read the end. And to do that, I'm going to have to survive.
In the present, Kim Dokja was yanked up by the collar and faced the protagonist. It didn't even occur to Kim Dokja to get away himself, resigned to his fate. His head feels like it was stuffed with cotton, as if he breathed some sort of thought-annihilating mental miasma. The incoming violence was bound to happen.
"Tell me the truth."
Kim Dokja's eyes flew open. He had closed them with the expectation of getting his face caved in, not a question.

He did not understand the look of sadness that stayed perpetually on his mother's face. He did not understand the way her face was always covered in bruises.
All he knew was that he did not want to share his father and his mother.
He was kept isolated from the general public and other children, and for some reason, his father soon started detesting him. The other woman also hated him. He could not understand what he had done as a little child to deserve the hate. But he could do nothing about it.
Everyone in the kingdom knew that Dokja was a loner. Even his name implied that. Everyone believed he had no real friend.
But that was not true. Dokja did have a friend, a great one. A friend who was courageous, calm in conflict, intelligent and strong. He always protected Dokja and helped him get through all situations.
He was just introverted, and refused to meet anyone else.
Dokja did not care if others said his friend was not real.
He knew he was there for him, always, and that was all that mattered. -
