Summary
This series originally started life as a sequel to Adventure 02 and Tamers, but with the existence Adventure Tri and Last Evolution, it has since become an alternate universe series.
The early stories in the series focus on the characters of Adventure 02 in their twenties and attempt to wrap up the unresolved Dark Ocean storyline from the anime. These early stories also explore the fact that the Ryo character from Tamers was originally a character from the Adventure universe and opens the door to multiverse shenanigans.
Later stories in this series, such as Child of Hope and Light and Child of Darkness begin to shift the focus more to younger generations of characters, and also introduces alternate versions of characters from Digimon video games such as Cyber Sleuth and Hacker's Memory.

In times immemorial, the Digital World's people were split in two and fell into chaos. The Human and Beast Digimon fought one another fiercely for control of the realm before a mysterious angel by the name of Lucemon appeared to quell the calamity. Lucemon was named as the ruler of the Digital World and oversaw a period of peace never witnessed before in the realm's storied history. However, Lucemon eventually grew corrupt, turning against the people he once loved and becoming a tyrant and a conquerer. Fighters of the elements known as the Legendary Warriors rose up to fight against Lucemon, eventually sealing him away at the center of the Digital World. After their deaths, the Legendary Warriors passed on their power to a new generation, this time to a group of humans from the Digital World's parallel realm: Earth. Years later, the time has come for the new generation of Legendary Warriors to rise and fight a new threat to the Digital World for the fate of both homes and both sides of them, human and Digimon.

In generations long gone, generals of the elements known as the Legendary Warriors rescued the Digital World from danger, bringing about a new era of peace and prosperity. However, such tranquility is shattered when Cherubimon, one of the three rulers of the Digital World, wages war against his comrades, Seraphimon and Ophanimon, sending the realm into chaos. Takuya Kanbara finds himself summoned from his Earth home of Shibuya to save the Digital World from Cherubimon’s tyranny. Alongside a group of other teenagers, Takuya discovers he is one of the reincarnations of the Legendary Warriors slated to return the Digital World to stability. Armed with the Spirits of their predecessors, Takuya and company prepare to defeat Cherubimon as fate intended. However, the task is much harder than expected, especially when not every Legendary Warrior is an ally, mastering the Spirits’ power is easier said than done, and wars long gone are not yet over.
