It was already bad enough he’d been wandering the woods on his own, but to become lost while the sky dusted the ground in a blanket of white had only made him wish he would have just stayed home.

The first time Orion notices something a bit off is when he sees the same panelling around the pelvis on every cybertronian he knows. At first, he chalked it up to plain design - so what, some bots just had rectangles or squares on their lower frames, nothing more; nothing less. But that’s the thing about Orion - always the first one to break protocol - so obviously he's going to get to the bottom (hah) of what that's all about.
i.e. - Orion finds out what interfacing is and decides he wants in on the action.
