Summary
“The past few days, I have often caught you staring at me within my peripheral vision. I scan your vitals when I see it happen,” he explained carefully. “Each time, your heart rate seems to spike noticeably higher than the rate at which it typically remains at rest. And simultaneously, your norepinephrine release increases. The physiological reaction I would describe it as, or at least compare it to, is the fight-or-flight response.”
You quirked a brow for a second as you processed what he was saying, and then, it hit you like a ton of bricks. You threw your head back as you immediately bursted into a genuine, stomach-ache inducing fit of laughter, covering your mouth with the hand you weren’t using to play with Connor’s hair to try and muffle the sound as best as you could. “Oh my God.”
“I—I’m afraid I don’t understand.” Connor fidgeted nervously.
“Connor, that wasn’t because I was uncomfortable,” you forced yourself to clarify through giggles. “Well, at least not in the way you were probably assuming. Right calculation, wrong interpretation.”
He looked at you, a helpless and lost expression painting his face.
“I look at you like that because you’re sexy."
